Seeing the fire truck rush pass me, I had a sick feeling in my stomach. I walked slowly retracing my steps.  Kicking through the leaves I felt bile rising to my throat.

Above the trees. Smoke.

I knew where the smoke was coming from.

God no.

I was now running towards home.  Tears slowly escaping, gliding on my cheeks as I passed the last block to my street.

I felt a rush of adrenaline seeing my house engulfed with flames.  Like brushes they painted the sky red,  the taste of ashe in the wind.

Running pass people in yellow and blue uniforms, "Dad!..Mom!.Kyla!" Screaming from the top of my lungs I felt my voice breaking.

Grabbing the uniformed man I shouted "Where's my family! " His face filled with sympathy as he looked at me.

I felt someone tugging at my pink shirt now covered with ash and dust.

"Baley"

I spun around and saw my sisters crying face. "Kyla!" I said in relief, pulling her in for a hug. "Wheres mom and dad!?" before she could talk, a voice from beside me called.

"Baley your here, thank goodness!" Mom's face was covered in ashes and her morning robe was burnt at the sides.

"Mom what happened" I gave her a hug and inspected her if she was hurt. Somehow she got out without a scratch.

"There was an explosion" she said with a shaking  voice.  "the d d d and and" she was stuttering now from everything  that was happening.

"Mom concentrate!" I said with a faint sob escaping my mouth. It was still hard keeping the tears from falling.

I held her cheeks as I spoke closer. "Mom, wheres Dad"

She closed her eyes and bit her lip before laying her head on my shoulders.

My heart broke. This was me being killed alive.

Daddy.
