"Congratulations bales, I knew you could do it"

Dad?

I fell asleep again. I sat up seeing the handfull of Paperworks I needed to answer and a pile of books. Stretching out my arms,  I let out a huge yawn.

I miss how dad used to keep me company when I studied so i wouldn't doze off.

It was three months after the house burned down.  We stayed at my grandmother's  house which was nothing short of a castle. She said it was given to our family long ago unknowning of who it was from and why it was given.

I stood up to face the mirror and saw dark circles and saggy bags under my eyes.  My hair was very blond that it practically looked white was held up to a bun. My lips were dry and crusty.

I haven't taken much notice of how I looked since I was too busy sorting out the bills and helping out with income,  accepting any small work that were offered. Mother was juggling too many different jobs already so naturally I had to help.

I went downstairs remembering I had to tutor kyla.  We both had to stop school for a while since we couldn't pay tuition.  But my Dad told me that we should never stop studying and learning  even if we werent at school. I took a pencil with me, thinking of using it for later.

Grandmother's house was really big,  sadly more than half of the rooms were empty.  She didnt own a lot of things and couldnt buy much furniture to put in them.

"Kyla where are you" I yelled from inside the living room. Dust fell as I shouted and I had to wipe some off of my already tattered sweater.

"hey, over hereeee" she yelled in return running from the hallway. Her short curly hair that were the same color as mine bouncing each step. She was 14,born when when I was still three years old. My heart ached remembering she wouldnt be able to go to school this year. Hopefully next year  both of us can go back.

"whats up" she said with a smile on her face. I looked down at what she was wearing.  It was a long pink dress. She loved living here.  It made her feel like a princes I think.

"Time to study" I grinned at her while tapping the pencil on her head.

"hey that hurts!" she squealed and took it off my hand.

"Can we do it another time" she begged clapping her hands together.

"You know this is the only time of the day im free"I told her raising my brow.

She tiptoed and and leaned to me as she whispered "But Im talking to someome" she giggled before continuing,  "I think hes a prince".
