Rylee Summers
-------I don't know why I decided to follow along with this idea of going to camp. Leaving mom for eight weeks isn't a good idea. Yes, she thought of this, I just said yes to make her happy. I continue to pack my duffel making sure I have everything for this eight week adventure.
"Rylee! We need to get going!" mom yells to me. I don't respond as I am already making my way to the front door. In the door stands my mom and my best friend Gabriella Winters. I greet Gabriella and walk out the front door to our car. Gabriella follows with mom and sits next to me.
"You girls ready?" mom asked.
"Yes."
"No." Gabriella and I say at the same time. Mom just looks at us through the rear view mirror. As upset as I was about going to camp, I was excited to be with Gabriella and to let loose for a few weeks. School doesn't allow me to let loose. From keeping my grades up to hiding my secret, school proved to be very stressful. I plugged my headphones into my phone, leaned my head against the window and prepared myself for the 4 hour drive to New Hampshire.
~4 Hours Later~
Pulling into the entrance of Camp Brook, I took in my surroundings. It was beautiful. The beautiful green trees and glistening lake made me begin to like this place. Gabriella goes to grab our bags from the trunk and I quickly thank her. I turn around and start with mom and Gabriella in tow when someone rams into me.
I fall to the ground and look up. Standing in front of me is a guy no older than me. He puts his hand out for me to grab and helps me up. As soon as I'm up I grab my bag off the ground.
"Watch where you're going next time."
That caught me off guard. Did he just tell me to watch where I'm going? I quickly realize that he walked away before I could say anything to him. Shaking my head I turn to Gabriella.
"What was that all about?" she asked.
"I honestly have no idea. He did walk into me right?" I question her. Gabriella just nods her head and we keep walking to the main cabin that my mom somehow ended up at.
Gabriella and I wait behind mom as she talks to the camp leader. I'm not sure what's taking so long. The man at the table turns to us and starts talking, "Miss Summers and Miss Winters, I have your cabin numbers. It looks like Miss Summers will be in cabin 11 while Miss Winters is in cabin 14. You will be sharing with one other person."
Gabriella and I share a look and then look at the camp leader and thank him. All three of us walk out of the cabin and start to say goodbye.
"I'm going to miss you so much, okay? Have fun and don't get in trouble. I love you both. I'll see you two in a few weeks." mom cried.
"Don't cry mom. I love you too. Please call if anything happens." I told her.
"I love you too Ms. Summers. We will see you in a few weeks." Gabriella says while hugging my mom. Gabriella is practically my sister so it is natural for her and mom to say they love each other. I hug my mom for a few minutes until she let's go. She walks to the car, mouths "I love you," then drives away.
Now, you may be wondering why I haven't spoken very much. That is a result of my mom knowing pretty much only my nerdy side. Yes, she knows I like sports but she doesn't know I play them. Also, I have some serious bullying issues. I have never been seriously physically injured but the words and fists thrown at me everyday aren't very friendly. Gabriella know all of this but I don't let her interfere.
Gabriella and I walk away and towards the cabins. We stop in front of cabin 11 and look at it. There is a small porch with steps leading up to a wooden door. There are two windows on either side of the door with blinds behind them. The cabin is worn but looks really cozy.
