I opened my eyes to a mischievously grinning Addy. "What?" I asked, suspicious.
She covered her mouth with her hand as she giggled. Addy pointed behind me. I whirled around, looking at where she was motioning to. She was pointing to... a table? With a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, extremely cute boy. I turned back to Addy, my face aflame. "Oh gosh... Reed..." She laughed again, and my cheeks grew hotter.
Addy pushed back her chair, and stood up. She flipped her hair over her shoulder as she turned away. "Ta-ta. I'm gonna get some coffee. Your usual?" I nodded. "Cool," she wiggled her fingers at me, and walked off. I was going to use this time to think, but then something caught me completely off guard.
"Is anyone sitting here?" My heart rate sped up as I looked up.
"Oh Reed. Ummm. No, at least not now." He made this cute confused face, and I told him, "Addy just went to get some coffee."
His face fell, and he simply said, "Oh."
Flustered, I gestured toward the empty chair and hurriedly told him, "No. Wait! You can sit there!" He chuckles and sits down. "Ummm. So..." My brain short-circuits, but I manage to spit out, "How's your day going?" I try to be casual, but my heart is pounding and my hands are clammy.
He notices my nervousness and chuckles again. "Um," he runs his fingers through his hair and pushes it back. He looks really cute when he does that. I think to myself. "It's going good, now that I've seen you."
Taken aback, I feel my face grow extremely hot. I mean, warmer than it already is. "Uh. Um." My tongue feels swollen in my mouth, preventing my ability to speak. My mouth hangs open, and I quickly shut it, noting Reed staring at me, stifling a laugh. I mentally slap myself and force myself to respond, "Umm. Thanks, I guess?" I hang my head down, my cheeks burning. Reed chuckles, and shakes his head.
"Oh gosh, you are so cute." My gaze flies up to meet his eyes, and I find him completely serious. He's not laughing. He means it. Well? Say something, you idiot! I scold myself.
I chuckle nervously and play with my hair, a nervous tic of mine. "S-so are you," I stutter. He smirks. "I mean- um- you're pretty." Ugh. Pretty? Is that the best you could come up with?
Reed laughs and then scoots his chair closer to mine. "I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies with me sometime?" He winks at me, smiling.
My eyes widen to the size of the coffee cups Addy was carrying over to me. She sees who I'm talking to and smirks, wiggling her eyebrows. "YES!" I say, just a tad too bit excited. Reed chuckles as he sees Addy. He pushes back his chair and stands up.
"Well. I better be off." He waves to me, "Bye Sage." All I can manage is a small wave back and the stupid grin I still have on my face. Reed laughs again and saunters off to his friends.
Addy places the coffee down very carefully and then sits down. "So?" She looks at me exasperated. "Tell me the details! Chop, chop! You have two minutes!" We both giggle.
"Okay, okay!" I playfully punch her on the arm. "I'll get there!"
