Ryan

On Saturday I walked over to Adams house. I didn't want him anywhere near my brother. While I walked over I thought about how adorable he was.

It was way too soon but I wanted him to be mine. He had been texting me a lot when he was in little space. I could tell he was still kind of shaken up about what happened on Thursday.

I knocked on his door when I got to his house. I heard him running and then a small voice asked, "Ry is that you?"

"Yeah baby boy it's me. Can I come in?"
The lock slide and the door opened to reveal Adam standing there in a onesie, his hair adorably tousled. "Did you over sleep?"

He nodded and tried to stifle a yawn. I laughed, a genuine deep laugh that boomed from my chest. It had been a while since I had been that carefree with my emotions.

I sat on the couch. "Do you wanna get dressed?" He shook his head and pouted. Slowly he walked over to where I was seated and pointed to my lap. I grinned and nodded.

The tiny boy curled up in my lap with his eyes closed. His head was tucked under my chin and his arms were wrapped around my stomach.

"Baby?" He groaned in response. "Are you sleepy?" Adam seemed to drift off and then snap awake. "Oh my god I'm so sorry." He tried to push himself off my lap but I would let him.

In frustration he started to cry, silent tears that rolled down his cheeks. Tilting his head up, I wiped those tears and kissed his nose. "Don't be embarrassed little one. There's no reason to cry. Daddy doesn't mind."

I felt him tense. "You wanna be my daddy?"
"Yes I do."
He seemed to ponder this new information."Why do you want me? I'm no one special."

"Hey." I softly rubbed his back. "Don't talk that way about yourself. I think you're wonderful, adorable, and the smartest baby I've ever seen. Okay?"

Adam nodded his head. "Okay.... Daddy." He giggled then and kissed my cheek.

"Now." I said. "Let's get you dressed and ready to go get some food."

He tried to get up again but instead I scooped him up in my arms and carried him to his room. Adam laid his head on my shoulder and made little sucking noises. "Does baby want his pacifier?"

"Yes pwease. His name is Mr. Lion"

"I think that's a wonderful name. Does he have a picture of a lion?"

He giggled and squirmed in my arms. "Silly! Of course he does!"

I managed to wrangle Adam into clothes and get him out the door. We walked to a cafe close to his house. When we were seated Adam started to move around in his seat.

"You okay little one?" He grabbed my hand and looked down at his lap.

"I- um I don't like o-ordering."
I considered him for a moment. His anxiety seemed to be flaring up and I didnt want him to feel anything but happy when we were together.

"I was gonna order for you Adam."
He looked up, surprised.

"I'm your daddy now buddy. I'll always help you no matter what okay?"

He broke out into a big grin and stood up. The next thing I knew, I was wrapped up in his small arms. "Thank you." He whispered in my ear. "Thank you for caring about me."

I kissed the side of his head and whispered back. "No problem baby boy. No problem at all."
