>>>>Deacon's POV<<<<
I Had just broken off the mind link with my little mate, now I'm standing out here in the dead of night.
I looked down at my watch and saw that is just after one am.
From the looks of it, those hunters were trying to throw off Bell and Jolen's sleeping patterns maybe they were trying to confuse their wolves. Whatever it was I could feel how weak Bell was, and it scared the shit out of me.
I worried now more than ever for my little mate and our unborn child.
I walked back into the apartment building and let myself into Ava and Kimmys apartment.
"You're up late." Kimmy said from the sofa.
"You're one to talk." I replied as I noticed how wide awake she was.
I grabbed a can of soda and began chugging it.
"That won't help if your trying to go to sleep." She noted.
"I'm trying to stay awake." I answered her. "Hey do you know of any Helsing's at school or here in town?"
Kimmy is naive and doesn't exactly think things through so I knew my asking would get me an honest answer.
"Well if I'm not mistaken there is a family that goes by the name of Helsing here in town, as for school I know this one science professor who talks about the Van Helsing story a lot." She said.
I knew it was him, the professor she spoke of must be the same guy from Bell's thoughts.
"My grandparents use to tell me a story about Van Helsing too, I wish I could meet this professor and talk with him sometime." I said as innocently as I could.
"Well I'm sure we could contact him, maybe they have his information on the school website." She said as she grabbed her laptop and began typing away.
I smiled at how easily this little 18 year old fell for my weak lies.
"Oh I found him." She said excitedly. "Oh sorry but all they list is his email address and his office number, school is out so I don't think you'll be able to call him."
"That's fine, can you jot them down just in case." I asked.
As she took down the number and email address I scanned the screen to see if any of the faces looked familiar from Bell's thoughts, but I found nothing.
I told Kimmy goodnight as she got up and went to her bedroom.
I walked into the guest room where we were all holed up and found only Gavin awake.
"Did you hear that?" I asked, asking if he heard the conversation with Kimmy and I?
"What was it about?" He questioned.
"Bell reached out to me through our mind link, she's with hunters, Helsing's to be exact, they're experimenting on her, oh and get this, they also have Jolen." I said.
"Jolen Marxx?" Gavin asked.
I nodded.
"Didn't he run away after he first phased?" He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Yeah, I remember. Jolen was always picked on by his older brother and vowed to never be like him, then the day after he shifted he couldn't take that he was like Hershell after all and he tried to run away from everything, his family, his lycanthrope blood, everything." Gavin said with a far off look in his eye.
"How do you know?" I wondered out loud.
"I befriended Jolen after you and I stopped talking." He admitted. "you had a best friend in Logan and when i moved I lost both of my best friends so I tried a lot of stupid shit, for attention I guess. Jolen was always in the wrong places because of his dickhead brother and that's how we met...plus we went to the same school."
"So both of you were at the wrong place at the right time and became friends?" I asked for clarification.
He nodded. "He's a pretty nice guy, very quiet, and hates himself for being born a Marxx but he wouldn't hurt a fly unless he absolutely had to, and even then he'd hate himself for doing it afterward." Gavin admitted.
"He told Bell he would keep her safe." I confessed.
"Then he will." Gavin said confidently.
I hoped he was right.
When the sun came up my trackers started to wake up. I gave them the information on the professor and then sent them all a mental picture of the man and they went off to work.
I went through pages and pages of all sorts of phone books in search of "Helsing."
Ava gave us directions to the flower shop she was taken to and then Logan, one of the trackers and I left.
First we found an abandoned old store on the outskirts of downtown Chicago. We got a blindfold and rope and then made our way to the flower shop.
"Steven, your Job is to keep the car running while Logan and I go in and look for someone who can tell us where Bell is." I filled in the tracker.
"Yeah, we know they won't tell us anything while we're there but we figure they may do a little more talking if we rough em up a little." Logan said with a dark smirk.
Steven didn't question a thing and agreed, we pulled up to the flower shop and Logan and I got off one at a time, I went in first.
"Welcome to The Flourishing Seed." A woman said with an overly fake smile.
I recognized her instantly as the cold and vindictive woman from Bell's thoughts.
I nodded and made my way around the mediocre shop.
It was small and flowers and plants lined the walls inside of temperature controlled cases.
"May I help you with something in particular sir?" She asked, once again her tone was too sweet and it grated my nerves.
"I'm looking for a rare flower, very dear to my heart." I said as smoothly as I could.
"If you give me the name of the flower I'm sure I can try and help you." She said as she began coming around the counter.
Just then Logan walked in.
"I'll be with you in just a moment." she said Turning to acknowledge Logan's presence.
While she looked away from me I nodded to Logan, signaling that she was the one I was looking for.
Logan used his gift of speed and within seconds the women was tied up and blindfolded.
And just like that we left the old flower shop leaving behind only a note.
--You have my heart, now I have your flower.--
