Leeroy sits down on seat 33C of his Virgin Airlines flight, departing from Seattle, WA to Venice, Italy. Next to him, a young couple takes their seats, 33B and 33A. In order to nip any possible annoying conversation in the bud he gives them a fierce look as they sit down. As always, it works.
They fasten their security belts and avoid any eye contact. The woman has long blond hair; her body is chubby with plump traits. She is wearing a white large summer dress and a white hat. Her boyfriend wears an extra-large pink polo shirt, beige shorts and sandals. Like his girlfriend, his facial features are undefined, which makes his appearance boringly plain. Both of them seem nervous due to the forthcoming flight. They are excessively masticating chewing gums, producing disgusting noises.
Leeroy made sure that they do not dare talk to him. His aura is dark and intimidating by nature. Even when he tries his best to appear like a regular human, other people avoid him, scared by his radiance.
Leeroy slowly shuts his eyes as the plane drives into its starting position and the flight attendants give security instructions.
Leeroy's thoughts start to wander. In general, he would not consider himself a friend of the twentieth century's inventions and technologies. Unfortunately, humans have become more powerful, their weapons stronger and their methods more deadly. This evolution of human lethality is one of the reasons he chooses a life in the shadows nowadays. An open confrontation with humans probably would not cost him his life, but could constitute a serious threat to his existence. Leeroy is very well aware that he has passed the peak of his power several centuries ago.
Nevertheless, as the airplane takes off the ground, Leeroy has to admit that the aviation is an excellent human invention. His thoughts drift back to the time when he first chased Giovanna and the triplets. The journey took him 4 months on a galleon. Even though he travelled in royal class and galleons were the most advanced ships of that time, Leeroy hated the voyage. The food was awful and the smell of sick people on board nerve-racking.
Suddenly, a sly smile appears on Leeroy's face as he thinks back at the journey. It was a great distraction to get rid of the most stinky and most ill passengers. From time to time one of them disappeared. More and more sharks were following the galleon on its way to the new world and Leeroy made sure that their flux became bigger and bigger by feeding them in regular intervals. At least he had a pleasant distraction.
Leeroy slowly opens his eyes as the woman next to him starts babbling loudly. Leeroy is seriously starting to get annoyed.
Could you be so kind to shut your pie hole? I cannot take your superficial American bullshit anymore, he imagines himself say it, and weighs their reactions. He is checking the scenario to kill them right in this moment. He comes to the conclusion that unfortunately he cannot get rid of them immediately because even for him risking a plane crash due to the confusion and panic caused by a murder would constitute a severe risk. He is not sure about that since he never tried but he has no idea what would happen to his physical existence. Better not try.
From the corner of his eye, he casts a glance at his neighbors and murmurs: "you have no idea how lucky you are ....for the moment". He takes the decision that if they do not stop disturbing him he would take care of them at the airport.
Suddenly Leeroy sees the earphones in the front of his seat. As it is the next best thing to do, he wonders if he should use them. He is not able to hear the voice of his neighbors again without risking that he could not control his temperament. Surprisingly Leeroy feels something like happiness flying to Venice. It reminds him of a time where he had more power. A time when he knew kings and popes and had considerable enemies.
Leeroy puts earphones on, although he does not pay attention to the music. Music has no meaning to him. It is not part of his universe. At least it is an Italian voice. He prefers Italian and German to English. Italian and German remind him of his old adventures whereas English is a constant reminder of his actual miserable existence. That could change soon. The fact that they probably found Katrina would change everything for him.
