Chapter One-

I walked into the S.H.E.I.L.D. building wearing my usual attire. A white, button up shirt and a knee length, black pencil skirt which I paired with black, kitten heels. The sleeves of the shirt came down to my wrists but I had them rolled up to my elbows as I usually did. The shirt was tucked into my skirt and I had two buttons at the top that I hadn't buttoned. I usually had only one unbuttoned but I figured I try two. Thankfully it didn't show off as much as I thought it would. I had my hair down today and curled, again something I had done for the first time. Well at least for work. Where my hair would come down to the middle of my back, it now rested at my shoulders. I would probably end up throwing it up in a ponytail by the end of the day anyway. I was engulfed in my, more or less, black pea coat and I held my medium sized, turquois Michael Korrs bag. It was a bit flashy for my liking but I carried it around anyway. It did a very good job of holding everything I needed.

I walked over to the front desk and checked in, receiving my card. I swiped it at the elevator and pressed the button for the 60th floor. The building had 63 floors. From what I knew, levels one to thirty were offices, call rooms, mail rooms, containment rooms, storage rooms, and meeting rooms. Levels thirty one to fifty-five were more important offices, such as finance managers, associates manager, and people of that nature. Level fifty-six was completely dedicated to holding every file S.H.E.I.L.D. had. Levels fifty-seven and fifty-eight were weapon testing and training centers for S.H.E.I.L.D.'s special operatives. Levels fifty-nine to sixty-one were labs and levels sixty-two and sixty-three were the special agents and big boss guys. I heard there were basement levels but I like to think it's just a parking garage. The elevator dinged as it stopped at the sixtieth floor. Two other people exited the elevator with me. My heels clicked on the mirrored floor as I hurried down the hallway to my lab. This floor was split into three labs. I worked in lab C-7 with Susan and two other people. The other two labs were C-9 and C-3. Dr. Banner worked in the furthest lab away from mine, C-3. I've never met him but Susan walks down there every one in a while to talk to him. I've always wanted to meet him but I don't have the courage to walk down there and I'm busy most of the time.

I pushed open the glass door to the lab and immediately switched out my pea coat for my lab coat. I hung up my coat and my purse on the same peg and then hung my card around my neck. I turned around and started walking towards my station.

"Good morning Susan."

I said as I passed the black haired girl. She was taller than me by four inches, making her five foot four. Her hair came down to her shoulders and was pin straight until it waved at the ends. She had bangs across her forehead. She was wearing black slacks and a long sleeved, red V-neck as she always did. On her feet were a pair of flats, the same red as her shirt. Her lab coat was layered over her outfit. She spun on her heel at the sound of my voice. A smile appeared on her face when she saw me.

"Morning!"

She shouted, causing the other two scientists to turn their heads our way. I smiled back at her and continued the conversation.

"Any news?"

She shrugged and crossed her arms just under her chest.

"Apparently we're getting some special guests today."

My eyes widened. A smirk appearing on Susan's face as I did so.

"You don't think it's them do you? The Avengers?"

Just like me, Susan had never met the full Avengers crew. We've talked about what it would be like to meet them but never got our hopes up. They were kind of celebrities so I would be ecstatic to meet them. Susan answered my question with a shrug and turned back to her station. I continued to mine and looked out the window. We had a nice view of Stark Tower. Sometimes it was intimidating with its height and all the lights, but mostly it was just stunning. The building was 60 floors so it was just about even with ours. It had massive letters on the top that glowed blue during the night. The letters spelt out 'STARK.' The 'A' was in the middle and the other letters laid further away from it due to its elongated left prong. I knew that the top three floors were Tony Stark's bachelor pad but the rest I knew nothing about. I shook out of my daze and began working on my experiments. I was done with everything by lunch.
