The next day ( Tuesday ) there was school. All of the snow that had fallen from the day previous had melted. Penney walked to school most days. The school was only right around the corner. But some days Lacey picked her up in her car. Penney texted Lacey. But if only she knew.
Penney- Hey Lacey can you come pick me up today my legs are so sore because I fell down the stairs yesterday. LOL.
Lacey- Sure.
Penney- Okay, thanks a lot Lacey.
Lacey- No problem, be there in 10.
And then the texting stopped. Penney waited 10 minutes and Lacey showed up. They went to school, but the car ride was awfully awkward. They didn't talk at all. They whole day Lacey didn't talk to Penney, witch was weird because they have all of their classes together and Lacey had never before gone a day without talking to her. When the bell rang all of the kids stampeded out of the classroom. All but Penney. The teacher had always yelled at Penney. But what was about to happen Penney had never expected. The teacher ( Mrs. Casey ) asked Penney to come up to her desk for a moment. Mrs. Casey made sure that Lacey had left the room. She asked Penney if she knew what was wrong with Lacey. Penney was shocked that she was asking her that. Penney said
" Mrs. Casey there is nothing wrong with Lacey!!!! " and she stormed out of the room. After she left Mr. Mickey walked in and said nothing. Mrs. Casey had a sad look on her face. " If only she knew. "
