(Y/N)'s entire body trembled as she reached for the broken wand in front of her. Her hands were stained with fresh blood, and her breathing was ragged. She could feel her skin growing cold, and the last ounce of hope she had left was being sucked out of her slowly, which could only mean one thing. (Y/N) took off down a small hallway, the hairs on her neck erect as she could feel the frigid, deadly touch of dementors right behind her. She tried to run faster, but it felt like she was running underwater, like something was pushing her back. As she turned the corner, the sight of Fred backed into a corner by Bellatrix stole the last of her energy. (Y/N) fell to her knees, and all she could do was watch. She yelled and screamed and pulled at her hair as she tried to get their attention, but it was useless. Bellatrix's bolt hit Fred, and the last thing she heard was Fred calling her name.

(Y/N) sat up quickly, sweating profusely as she shook the remnants of her nightmare out of her head. She tried to steady her breathing as the events of yesterday began to replace the traumatic memories of the war. Her eyes danced around the room, wondering why nothing looked familiar, and then she remembered arriving in Camelot.

"Are you okay?" Merlin asked from the other side of the room. (Y/N) looked over, noticing the awkward position that Merlin stood in, appearing as though he was hiding something.

"Fine," (Y/N) answered, furrowing her eyebrows at him as she peeled the sheets off of her sweaty skin. "Are you?"

Merlin opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, a small brown frog jumped across (Y/N)'s line of vision, startling her. The frog landed on a stack of books, and (Y/N) stared at it for a few seconds. "Chocolate frog got away from you, huh?"

"Um..." Merlin studied her face before answering, his demeanor changing into that of a guilty child. "The box fell out of your jacket, and all I did was pick it up, and the frog jumped out on its own." Merlin pondered for a second. "Is it really made out of chocolate?"

"Yes, and they're quite delicious too, but..." (Y/N) paused, got out of bed, and knelt next to the stack of books, waiting patiently. She cupped her hands in the air, slowly moving closer and closer to where the frog was. After a few more anxiety-ridden moments, (Y/N) leapt forward, clasping her hands around the frog. "...they're a bloody pain in the ass," She finished. (Y/N) pinched the frog's small body in between two fingers, showing it to Merlin. "Care to try?"

Merlin scrunched his nose in disgust at the thought of eating a helpless animal, especially one that was alive. "No, the poor thing probably just wants to go home, and here you are offering it as a meal."

(Y/N) giggled, shaking her head. "It's not a real frog, Merlin. It's a piece of chocolate that was brought to life by magic."

"...I don't believe you."

(Y/N) smirked, then bit the frog's head off, the magic dispersing from its body in tiny, gold glints of light. "See," She showed Merlin where the frog's head used to be, "Not real." (Y/N) finished chewing, then handed Merlin the frog, encouraging him.

Merlin hesitated at first, then slowly bit a tiny portion, making sure his lips didn't touch the frog at all. He waited for the horrific taste of blood to fill his mouth, but when it didn't, he stared at (Y/N) in disbelief. Merlin shyly popped the rest of the frog in his mouth, enjoying the sweetness, as well as the relief.

(Y/N) chuckled as she watched the look on his face change from terrified to a pleasant surprise. It had been her exact reaction when Fred and George made her try one for the first time during their first year.

"So... I don't mean to be a bother, but when do I get to talk to this person who's going to help me?" (Y/N) asked, walking toward the corner of the room where she had placed her clothes the night before.
