Sam~
It couldn't have been twenty minutes after she fell asleep that i felt the need to contact my beta Ben and let him know where i was.
ben?
Yes Sam?
I'm with Jay. Can you meet me outside of her house? We need to cover some new boundary runs.
I didn't wait for him to reply before I slid Jayden off of me. She only stirred a little before hugging the teddy bear I got her close.
Heading down the stairs I let my mind wander to that day.
~Flashback~
Today is Valentines Day.
After getting to school I was hoping that one of them wouldn't show up but there he was.
And I knew she wasn't far behind.
Jay always got here a few minutes after me. So it was expected that she wasn't here yet.
I glanced at Ian to see him holding a single rose and a card. I snorted. He really thought that he was good enough for her. How wrong he was.
She entered the room with a small red bag in one hand and a larger bag in the other. To my surprise she walked over to a chair and sat her things on it. Then she turned to approach Ian with the smaller bag.
"Happy valentines day!"
"You too baby." he said as he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the lips. It disgusted me.
She pulled away from him. "Hold on."
I was too dazzled by her beauty to realize that she was walking towards me with the bigger bag.
"Happy Valentines Day Sam". She whispered, hiding her face from me.
I hadn't even realized that she was holding the bag out to me until she looked at me. That second of eye contact was all it took for me to know that she was something special.
I took the bag from her, but never once broke the eye contact. That was until Ian cleared his throat from behind her.
She glanced away sheepishly. "You've always been nice to me so I wanted to get you something."
Inside the bag was a T - shirt and a marshmallow rose coated in sugar crystals. She remembered that I wasn't fond of chocolate because I had a peanut allergy. That thought alone made me smile.
"Thanks Jay." I gave her a quick hug aware of Ian's eyes on us. She fit perfectly in my arms, almost as if she was meant to be there....
As she was walking away, I remembered that I got her something.
"Wait," I called after her, "this is for you."
She looked at the stuffed bear I handed her like a kid would look at a candy store.
"I love it, thanks." and with that she walked away with the slightest smile on her beautiful lips.
Ian shoved me back a step, gaining my attention.
"Stay away from her and you can live."
"Just because your dad's an alpha doesn't mean you can threaten me and get away with it." I growled.
"You wouldn't last two minutes against me."
I rolled my eyes. He might be smart but he wasn't strong, that was for sure.
Our pack's were allies because our father's grew up together and went to the same school.
That was until my dad's mate turned out to be Ian's dad's girlfriend. That's when everything went sour.
~End flashback~
The only reason they're allies now is because Ian's pack was much smaller and weaker than our pack.
In a way we offered them protection from other larger packs while they helped us keep up our patrols and hunts.
I walked out the door and met Ben, who was sitting on Jay's back porch.
We imediantly began discussing the patrols and we're deeply engrossed in our conversation.
That's the only excuse I can come up with. I wasn't paying attention and that gave them the perfect chance to take her...
