The streets were quiet and motionless, the TV's,radios and computers were silent and still.

And all the people were asleep, around the whole world every man, woman and child was asleep at once and when they awoke the life they had once known will have vanished.

In this new world everyone will be forced to work together no matter of race, age or wealth...If they wish to survive they will have to put away their old thoughts and out dated preconceptions of self worth and work with the people that they once belittled.

Not everyone will survive, some will cling to their old lives but some will thrive and storm through this new world with a new sense of bravery and defiance.

But what has caused this change? What force made the world change in such a drastic way? What made them fall asleep? And was it reversible?

Chapter One.....

25th December 2012...

6:30 AM

Dublin,Ireland.

"Merry Christmas,Ma!" Amber exclaimed as she flew down the stairs full of childish glee,it was the day that Santy came and she couldn't wait to see what he had left her.She had barely slept a wink last night with excitement and curiousity, she had even braved a couple of peaks when she thought her mother hear or see her.

"Amber, sweetheart it's only six thirty. Can we not sleep for another hour or so?" her mother begged exhuasted from having to wait up all night till her daughther had fallen asleep. She had just crawled into bed when she heard the familiar scrambling of feet that signalled her young daughter was awake.

"Maaaaaaa!" Amber whined from the bottom of the twisting staircase, she knew she wasn't allowed to open any of Santa's presents until she'd had her usual Christmas breakfast of toast and scrambled eggs followed by a bar of choclate of her choice from the selection box she wasn't suppose to know about.

Lisa rolled out of bed ignoring the banging pain in her head, she glanced in the mirror before she went downstairs, her black shoulder length hair was pulled back in a messy pony and her green eyes tired and sad,her face was drawn and pale but her rosey lips were pulled back in the best fake smile she could muster. This would be the best Christmas even if it killed her.

Amber was going to have a good Christmas, she deserved it after the year she'd just had.

"Ohh I'm coming,Amber!" she sang taking the stairs slowly and carefully, these stairs made her nervous but Brendan had insisted we have the grand staircase.

"Can we open Santa's pressies before breakfast mammy?" Amber begged, putting on her best puppy dog eyes, she looked so much like her father in that moment that Lisa had to fight back the tears and remind herself that it was Christmas and she needed to smile.

"No!" she laughed but it sounded false and awkward to her ears,"You know the rules, breakfast then pressies!"

Lisa scooped up her five year old daughter and cradled her in her arms, the little girl was the image of her daddy with her mousey blonde hair and playful blue eyes,it hurt Lisa heart to know that this little girl would never get to know her wonderful father.

"Mammy, will daddy come home for Christmas?" she asked snuggling into her mother's embrace,"He said that he'd come home, didn't her? He told me that he'd teach me how to play snake and ladders!"

"No,baby..We talked about this daddy's never coming home." she said carefully, this was the last thing she wanted to discuss with her baby girl on Christmas morning,"Remember I told you that he went to join Granda in heaven?"
