Chapter 4

Ali's POV
When we arrived home, I quickly texted Beth to come over. When I got out of the car, Beth came running over to us.

"Hey. I came here as quick as I could." she said, breathing heavy. "Beth, you live next door." mum remarked. "I know, but I ran all the way from my room to here." she replied, panting.

"You are so out of shape." I chuckled. "Like you work out." she said, narrowing her eyes at me. "Come on, girls. I'll start making lunch, okay?" Mum said, walking in the house.

We followed behind her and we walked up to my room. I left my door open and sat on my bed.

"So, what did they say?" she asked, sitting at my desk.

"They said I-I have schizophrenia."

Her eyes widened and she covered her mouth. "Are they sure? They said the same thing about your mom and she didn't have it."

"Yeah. They are. They double checked and everything." I replied, tears coming to my eyes. "Oh, hunny. I'm so sorry." she said, standing up and walking to me.

She sat down next to me and hugged me. A sob escaped my lips as I hugged her back.

"How?" she asked. "I don't know! It just happened!" I cried. "Wait, Ali, you've been showing symptoms for this for months."  I let go and wiped my tears away.

"What?" I asked, my voice cracking. "Yeah. You haven't noticed?" she asked. I shook my head. "What am I going to do about school? What am I going to do about the cheer squad? I wanted to try out with you!"

"Shh. It's okay. You'll be fine, okay? Your parents will figure something out, I know they will. You'll be okay." she smiled, pulling me into a hug.

"I'm so scared."

"Hey, how about we go to the girls' house and spend the night? You know they would love to see you. It can get your mind off things, okay?"

I nodded and wiped my tears away. "Yeah. I'll ask mum if we can go."

I got off of my bed and walked downstairs. "Mum?" I called, walking into the kitchen. "Yes, Ali?" she asked.

Oh my gosh, it smells so good in here.

"Uh, can Beth and I go to the girl's house to spend the night tonight?" I asked. "Uh, yeah. You can go after lunch. You'll have to text them and let them know." she replied.

"Okay." I said, turning around and walking back upstairs. I grabbed my phone as Beth sat up from my bed.

She walked into my bathroom as I started texting Perrie.

Me: hey! Can Beth and I come over? Mum said we can....
Mama: of course, beaut. You guys can come. What time are you coming?
Me: maybe in an hour or something
Mama: ok. See you then

"Bye, Mum!" I called as I exited the car. "Bye. Call me if something happens." she said. "Mama will handle it." I replied, grabbing my bag. "Still." I playfully rolled my eyes and closed the car door.

"Bye." I blew her a quick kiss before walking up the porch steps and to the door.

I've heard so many stories about what went down here. Sam told me most of them. Mama told me some as well. But, Jade told me almost all of them. I know there are still secrets that I don't know about though. I can feel it.

I opened the door and Beth followed behind me.

"We're here!" I yelled as Beth closed the door. "In the kitchen!" Leigh yelled. We sat our bags in Mum and Sam's old room before walking into the kitchen.
