Narrator's POV
You sigh as you throw on your coat and look into the mirror with your camera in hand. You force a smile before walking out of the door and out into the crowded streets of New York.
"If we don't get anything good to write about soon then we'll be screwed." You mumble to yourself. You look down at your watch while walking behind an old lady. "Oh shit I'm going to be late!"
You pick up your pace as you slip by people, sometimes being short has some advantages. Your walking soon becomes jogging that changes into running. Suddenly a blonde girl pops out of nowhere from the crowd and before you were able to stop you collide into her.
"I'm so so sorry!" You stop myself from falling back and follow the girls gaze to where she was looking at her phone that the crowd managed to kick all the way onto the other side of the street.
Your POV
"I'm sorry!" I repeat again.
The girl holds out her hand stopping a guy from approaching me. She looks straight at me with a gentle smile.
Wait a second... she seems familiar. Is that her bodyguard beside her? Did I just dig my own grave?
I was taken aback at her smile.
"You apologizing won't fix my phone." She places her hand on her waist.
She's going to kill me isn't she.
"I'm sorry." I accidentally blurt out before placing both of my hands over my mouth causing the girl to let out a small laugh.
"I guess if you help me out with one thing then I'll let you go." The girl grabs me and starts dragging me the opposite way I was going.
Is she going to lead me to an alley way and kill me there. Wait, she's leading me further away from my work place!
I try to pull away from the girl's grip but despite my effort she has no sign of letting go, nor can I pull away from it. She suddenly stops and I walk right into her.
"Take me to the nearest Starbucks." She looks down at me. I point across the street to the big Starbucks logo. "Oh..." She scratches the back of her head before crossing the street and into Starbucks still dragging me with her.
She orders two drinks and forces me to sit down beside her. She hands one drink to me.
I reach into my pocket to pull out my wallet to pay her back but she stops me.
"I won't accept your money." She says before taking a sip of her drink. "My name is Dinah by the way." She glances over at me.
"Dinah...?" I repeat the name and she nods. "From Fifth Harmony?" I stand up shocked.
She adjusts her hat and tilts it more over her face. "You know of us? What do you want my signature?" Dinah sticks out her tongue playfully.
"No." I reply.
"Damn." She pouts as she watches me sit down and place my camera on the table.
"What's with the camera?" Dinah asks.
I suddenly smile at her question causing her to tilt her head. This is my chance to give her our business card and maybe I can get an interview with her, that'd look so good for our magazine!
"My name is Y/N and I'm a g-" I pause thinking it's not a good idea to tell her I'm a gossip reporter. I bite my lip in thought. "I'm a reporter." I hand her my business card with my number on it.
She looks at the card and then up at me.
"You were gonna say gossip weren't you." She raises her eyebrow at me.
I look away shyly.
"I'd like to thank you for breaking my phone. I needed a new one anyway! I can't take selfies with a cracked front camera!" Dinah changes the subject but I still remain silent.
"Oh shit Normani is going to kill me, I'm going to be late!" The girl jumps up.
"It was nice meeting you Y/N, maybe our paths will cross again." She smiles at me one last time before walking away.
I unlock my phone to see a lot of missed calls from my manager. I forgot I had my phone on silent, I was wondering why I wasn't getting any calls from him.
Suddenly my phone starts ringing again and I carefully pick it up and slowly put it against my ear.
"You better have a good reason to being this late!" He yells into the phone as my right ear starts ringing. "Well? I'm waiting for your excuse."
"Oh! Well I bumped into Dinah and I gave her my card." I reply slowly.
"Oh why haven't you told me this sooner! This is why you're my favorite! I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. You know what you can take the day off today! If she doesn't call us in the next 24 hours however you're not getting a check this week." He hangs up before I was able to say anything else.
If I don't get the check then Alexa will have to work overtime to pay for this months rent. I sigh as I lean back in my seat. This is all gonna be on Dinah if she decides to call or not. If we get an interview with her or Fifth Harmony it'd look so good for us that I'd be able to get a raise and not live basically on the borderline. This is what I get for not going to college. I hit my head against the table ignoring the fact that the people around me probably think I'm crazy.
Today could've gone a lot worse though.
