The hallways were almost empty when I got out. Did I take that long with Mr. Walter?
I sighed and decided to go to the library to sketch my new ideas. When I got there, I saw some students and teachers having a meeting. Library Club, I guessed. I silently crept up to the second floor of the library, back to the place where I bumped into Jared.
When I got there, I saw him reading silently. I instantly blushed, but then took courage to come to him.
"Hey there." I greeted casually. He nodded, then returned the greeting. " What are you reading?"
He showed me his book. "It's called Artemis Fowl. About a boy who is very clever and has adventures." He smiled at me and continued reading.
I smiled back. "Then I guess I'll look for something to read too." I went out then went from shelf to shelf, in search for an interesting book. But after a few minutes, I sat down on the floor. "It's impossible," I panted. "Thousands of books but none are in my favor."
As I sarlt pondering, I heard something. Or like, I didn't hear anything, which was strange. The Library Club were very noisy when I came in, but now it was very quiet, as if it were only I who was in here.
"Wait, Jared's here. I'm not alone." I chuckled. But in the midst of my small happiness, I heard the librart doors click shut. "What the-"
FLICK.
The lights went out. I screamed in panic. I fumbled for my phone then opened the flashlight. "Jared?" I called out.
No response.
Scared, I crept back to the area where Jared was awhile ago. But when I came there, he was gone. I was in panic. "Is this some kind of a joke to you? 'Cause I'm really scared right now."
I checked the time. "5:45 p.m. Oh no. Mom might start looking for me." With my phone's light as a guide, I ran towards every window and tried to pry them open. Exasperated, I cursed silently and walked around the first floor of the library. "No exit, no open window. Maybe I should break them down."
I tried my search for an exit again. After a few moments, I saw small door slightly open. Curious, I peeked inside. In it were some stocks of some old books. A storage room, I chided. As I was about to leave, I heard a strange sound from inside.
Come, come land dweller
Seek what you want, and it shall be yours
Just come and see what is here
What we have been storing for this day to come!I shivered at those eerie words. I stared back at the storage room, waiting, listening. No sound came out. I couldn't move an inch away from it. I had to find out.
Cautiously, I went inside the room. It was full of dust and cobwebs. I laughed at my foolishness. "What could possibly be in store for me?"
BAM!
The door suddenly shut behind me. I screamed in panic, trying to pry it open. "Let me out, let me OUT!" I cried in despair. Was I to be trapped in this tiny room forever?
Suddenly, I heard the voice again.
Little land dweller, come forth
Do not despair, for your wish shall be granted
Touch the Great Stone
And gain what you have wanted for years!I moved towards the voice. I couldn't stop myself. It was as if something took over me. Then, I saw something. The Great Stone. I touched it.
Then, everything went black.
