I was given the chance to write this eulogy for Linda. I don't know how it will go but..... Let's just begin. Linda had thalassemia, which means she had two strings of DNA instead of four strings, she had to have blood transfusions every fifteen days even after she had her bone marrow transplant. She knew that well, and was used to it.
The morning of her procedure was as normal as always she came down at 8am on the dot and had her special pancakes. At 9am all of us were ready and in the car. Suddenly Linda remembered something and stepped out of the car.
"I will be back in a minute." She said and ran inside, a few minutes later she was back with her teddy bear which she always needed with her. She sat inside and closed the door we reached the hospital in 15 minutes. She sat down on one of the benches inside the hospital as me and my wife, Lily went to the reception center. After we got back we went inside Dr.Lennington's office and Linda sat on her usual place
"Good morning doctor." Linda said in a cheery voice.
"Good morning Linda are you ready?"
"Yes let's get started." Linda replied.
She slept on the bed and a syringe connected to a small pipe which led to the blood that was supposed to be inserted into her was injected she felt a little pinch, but it was bearable. She knew that the procedure was going to take a few hours, so she closed her eyes and went to sleep. She woke up again as she felt the syringe being taken out. Dr.Lennington kept a piece of cotton on the injected spot and taped it up.
She sat up on the bed and asked, "All done doctor?"
"Yes just one last thing." He opened a drawer and took out a lollipop and handed it to Linda.
"I am 16 doctor." She said with a smile.
"Yet you love it, am i wrong?" Linda smiled at him as she opened her lollipop and started licking it like a kid. Then she joined her mother and me. We went back back home and the rest of the day went normally.
