Boy At School

I gloomily make my way to school, dragging my feet as I walk. As per usual, I didn't get that much sleep again. But at least I've been finishing my essays early. Jin has been driving me home ever since we met. It may be unusual, but I'm still grateful for it.

Finally, I reach campus and make my way to class. On the board, it's written to find groups of similar jobs. I highly doubt someone wants to get the job that I want. Since it has to do with investigating murders. Most of the people in this class are aiming to be lawyers.

A boy walks up to me and sits next to me. Glancing up, I notice that he's studying my face. "You're Mwimi, right? I heard you wanted to be a prosecutor." He says, giving me a small smile. I nod at him in response. "Me too. My name is Namjoon, nice to meet you," He holds out his hand and I gently shake it.

I was surprised to see someone interested in the same job as me, especially when his face seems so delicate. We started talking about cases that haven't been solved yet such as the murders that have been happening in our town. "Have you heard about the murder of the man who worked at a coffee shop? They said he was found behind the shop. This was the most recent murder."

"Oh.. I haven't heard about that one yet. I wonder why a coffee employee?" I said, curiously.

"That's what I asked too." Namjoon responded. "It seems to be murders of random people, they don't have any connections at all. Maybe the killer is just doing it for fun?" He continues with his ideas. We went on about countless ideas about the killer.

By the time we finished having our chat about being prosecutors, it was already time to go back home. We walk out of the building together and I wave goodbye to him with a smile as he walks in the other direction. I run up to Jin with a smile, but he has a blank expression on his face. "Is something wrong?" I ask.

He seems to snap out of his thoughts and turns to me with a smile. "Sorry, I was just thinking. Let's go." Jin says, walking towards his car. We arrive at my apartment shortly and like usual he walks me up to my front door.

"Um.. Jin.." I say before he turns around. He smiles at me, waiting for me to speak. "Do you.. want to come inside?" Hesitantly, I ask this question once more. We've gotten to become friends these past few days, so I wanted to try to ask again.

Jin gives me a light grin, "Sure, I have time." I move to the side and let him walk into my apartment, closing and locking the door behind him. We move into the living room and I use hand motions to get him to sit on the couch. Going into the kitchen, I grab a plate of cookies and set it on the coffee table in front of the couch.

I go to sit next to him and I accidentally sit really close to him. It was awkward, but I didn't want to move away or else it would create an uncomfortable atmosphere. Our legs and arms were rubbing against each other.

He turns to me and gently strokes my hair, lifting the awkward situation. I began to relax and my tense shoulders slowly melted down. Jin tilts his head and leans towards me, he starts whispering inaudible words into my ear and blowing into my ear. I flinch immediately and both my ears and cheeks flush a fierce red. He chuckles and pats my back. "You get embarrassed very quickly."

"It's just that.. my ears are sensitive.." I say with a little pout.

"I'm just teasing you." He laughs as he eats the cookies I made. My heart is pounding very loudly in my ears, it makes me wonder if he could hear it. "Your apartment is quite small." Jin states.

"Ah yea.. Do you live in a big place?" I ask him.

He nods, "Yes, I like having lots of space to roam around, and also a big kitchen."

We talked for a couple more hours and finally it was time for him to head back home. He got up and I followed him to escort him out of my house. Jin waved to me as he got into his car. I closed my door when he drives out of the parking lot.

Walking back into my room, I sit on my bed and cup my ears. I feel my face get flustered as I remember what happened. I shiver with chills going up my spine. If I were to be honest, it felt like heaven when he blew into my ear.

It's already late so I shower and get ready to go to bed. I keep thinking about school work and what to do for the project I have to do with Namjoon. While reading the recent news, I dose off and fall asleep.

Setting my books on the desk, I sit down and pull out my notes for class. Namjoon comes by and sits next to me once again. He smiled and greets me. I greet him back. We started discussing our project together. "My father is also a prosecutor, I asked if we could partake in solving the crimes and he's giving us permission, mostly because it'll benefit us." He states grinning at me with cute dimples.

"He's giving us permission?! What if I mess something up.. O-Or what if we get attacked?" I worried and started coming up with theories. Namjoon patted my back gently and told me not to worry. I took a deep breath and calmed myself down.

"We aren't facing a murderer head on, silly." He chuckles. "We are just handling paperwork for now." I started to blush at his words. I should have known. "When are you free?"

Looking up at him, I took a second to respond, "I'm free whenever!"

"Then we can start tomorrow, I'll drive you to my dad's office." He says. I nod in response, feeling a little nervous. Namjoon starts taking out papers that include newspapers regarding the murders that have been happening. As he reads the papers, I stare at his face. He is quite good looking and looks cool when he's working seriously.

Shaking my head to get my mind to focus, I also start looking through my notes. We began to discuss how the murders could be related in anyway, but it really led to nowhere. We couldn't do anything without official information, so we had to wait until tomorrow. Good thing tomorrow is Saturday.

Hours passed, and finally the school day is over. Math class was not so good today. Luckily college is almost finished for me. Then I can leave and sleep in when I feel like it! I laugh at my thoughts out loud, until someone calls my name from behind me. I turn around to see Namjoon.

"I forgot to say, want me to pick me up at your place so that we can go tomorrow?" He says, slightly scratching the back of his head.

"Oh yea! Sure, if you don't mind!" I say cheerfully with a smile. We exchanged numbers and I texted him my address. We waved goodbye and started walking our separate ways. As I walked towards the gate, I see Jin.

He has his hand over his eyes, squeezing his temples. Jin looks really stressed out, but I felt a little nervous asking him what happened. I walked in front of him, peering at his face. I'm guessing he heard my footsteps and then put his hand down.

His eyes stare down at me. They looked very cold and dark. Chills were sent up and down my spine. I felt frozen at the spot as he stared blankly at me. He reaches his hand out to me and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. Softly smiling, he says, "Let's go."
