I sighed while walking home. Devan had totally seen all the glory of my ugly bruising, and he was going to make staying in snobville real hard. I was seriously going to kick his butt if he made me fail. And do much, much worse to that boy.
I munched on some popcorn later, lounging about and watching the movie "The Incredibles" on our crappy little TV set. I wished good and evil were so simple, so black and white, like in the movie. As much as I hated to admit it, Wizards weren't "black". And I most definitely wasn't Tide "white" either. We were all varying shades of gray.
For this reason, I took a run.
I put on a pair of old crappy sweatpants, running shoes, and a worn t-shirt. I started jogging down our street; tracing the route I took every morning to Eton. I jogged my way in the fading twilight, the most beautiful part of the day. I heard my even breathing, the paced slapping of my sneakers on the concrete. That's when I saw him. I almost stopped in my tracks at the familiar face.
I heard my heart race, and my breathing quicken.
It was my father. The notorious demon, Fusao, of the Ino-Kenji house.
I stop, staring at my father in the shadows of the alley by Eton.
"Father," I whisper.
He hears me, and gestures me to come toward him.
"Hello, daughter." He greets me formally. I can count the number of times I've seen my father on one hand.
"What is is?" I ask abruptly, tapping my foot impatiently. I really had to go home.
Let me explain something for a sec. In the world of Evil creatures, look at demons as the mafia and gang. My father, is the Al Capone of the demon world, except ten times worse.
"Can't a father say hi to his daughter?" He asks. My father is Alex's height, with tattoos swirling up on to his face. His hair, you would probably call white, and his eyes silver like ours.
"Um, no, not you. We're your illegitimate half-demon children, remember?" I reply testily.
"Actually, I'm here to warn you. There is a rising demon power in our world, I don't know anything about him, except for that he goes by 'Tudor'." My father informs me. "And, there are some demon hunters in the city. So be careful. Oh, and say hi to Alex for me."
My father disappears in a flash. I sigh, and start jogging again. I get back in rhythm, and replay the conversation with my father over and over again in my head.

Devan's POV
"Hey Dev, we caught a demon on the radar. He's gone now, but it was Fusao." Abe calls to me, while I'm in out kitchen making myself a sandwich. Shivers run down my spin at the name "Fusao". If you know what he's done, you would probably run screaming.
"Fusao? How can you be so sure?" I ask, walking over to Abe and squinting at his computer screen.
"The aura was of the chart." Abe said seriously. I took him seriously.
"Can you hack into any cameras where he was?" I reply. Abe nods, and pulls up some feeds.
"Eton." We say at the same time. Fusao was by our school. Fusao, on the camera, stood waiting for something. He had his hand on one of his swords. He suddenly is alert, and starts talking, but we couldn't hear what he was saying, or whom he was talking to. He walked toward the person, then stops, and disappears.
"Who was he talking to?" Abe asks, voicing the question I was about to say.
"Someone obviously who wasn't afraid of him, and someone he had no intention of hurting. Does he have any human contacts? Or even wizard ones?" I ask.
