But to call it wasting time, oh that's a crime
And you thinks it's crazy what I'm tryna do
Well baby I'm a fool for you
'Cause underneath the darkness
There's a light that is trying so hard to be seen
And I know this, cause I've noticed
A little bit shining through the seams

Shawn's hands sped across the paper as he let all his bottled up feelings take control, he hummed softly. His fingertips tapped lightly against the surface of the table, he ran his free hand through his hair and gazed into the distance thoughtfully yet sorrowfully.

A bell tinkled slightly as the coffee shop door opened to reveal an old man hobbling along with his cane and as soon as he moved out of the way Shawn saw her: Camila, in a grey hoodie and sweats, hood up attempting and failing to conceal trails of mascara-tinted tears. He simply couldn't look away. Her dark, chocolate-brown eyes, although sad, captivated him.

Camila noticed his gaze and opened her mouth as if to speak but Shawn looked back at his notebook in an attempt to ignore her.

Camila's POV

I'll admit that hurt. A lot. 'There's no way I could be catching feelings.' I thought. I walked past him and sat down at an adjacent table, but not before I saw the coolness in Shawn's eyes be replaced by pure pain. All I do is cause people pain. All I do is cause people pain. I don't deserve anyone. I-

I said all those things out loud.

Shawn stood up and embraced me tightly, his aftershave hitting me suddenly and leaving me breathless. I hugged back not wanting to let go. Tears flooded my eyes. Shawn shyly wiped a drop off my face and I buried my face in his chest. God he smelled so good. His arms were strong and somehow hugging him was like floating. A weight lifted off my shoulders.

"Shh, it's okay," Shawn whispered, "here, sit down, I'll get you a hot chocolate and a towel."

"No, S-Shawn, I can't let y-" protested Camila shivering.

"You need to get warm," responded Shawn as he called over a waitress, "we'll have a hot chocolate and two chocolate chip muffins thank you."

"Is that all?" asked the waitress eyeing Shawn in a flirty way.

Shawn, however, paid no attention to her, Camila had trapped him in her dark enticing gaze. "Hm, how about instead of a chocolate chip muffin, a chocolate chip and banana muffin," she replied, "thank you so much Shawn."

The waitress left in a huff and almost tripped in her huge heels, Shawn and Camila oblivious to her rudeness, too absorbed in their own conversation. Once their food and the towel arrived they quietly enjoyed the rest of the night in each other's company. Few words were spoken but their happiness was evident, they were comfortable, cozy and above all content.
