I woke up tied to a tree, with angry elves fighting over how to kill me.

"About time, sleepy head." I looked over to find . . . another girl tied to a tree. She looked familiar, but I wasn't sure how.

She laughed at my confused look. "It's Figi!" I squinted again in confusion, but she didn't have time to explain. Right then, an acrid smoke began leaking up from the ground. I heard Figi curse.

I looked over at her again, but I didn't get to ask my question because the elves were suddenly there, spears pointed at us. "What magic is this?!"

I checked to see if Figi's eyes were glowing, then, finding that they weren't, turned back to the elves and replied "Not ours." They didn't believe me until the black smoke materialized  behind them into the form of the witch.

Her blue eyes held no charm as she tapped one of the elves on the shoulder and said "Will you let me through? I have some business to deal with." On business her eyes flashed not magically, but murderously, and she looked at me. I resisted the urge to scream. This was not natural. To my horror, the elves stepped aside. She sauntered forward and took out a knife. Figi cursed again as she reached forward and placed the knife against my throat. She was distracted for a few seconds, and took the knife away from my neck to gloat.

"Can't save your princess now, can you. I was only tied by my wrists and torso, so my legs were free. I kicked her in the knee, effectively breaking it and knocking her over. She shrieked as she fell, but said a spell as soon as she hit the ground. I struggled against my bonds, but she got up too fast.

"You," she seethed, pointing a crooked finger at me. "I was debating whether or not to let the stupid elves kill you for killing their princess, even though it was my daughter, but now I think I'll do it myself!" At the last word she lunged at me, hands outstretched, and wrapped her crooked fingers around my neck. The elves still didn't do anything for a few seconds, processing what the old hag had said about their princess. Then, they all rushed forward at once, jabbing their spears into her back. She couldn't do anything to stop them, she was so angry. My windpipe had been blocked for only about thirty seconds before they pulled the old witch off me. They cut my ropes and helped me stand up. The whole time they muttered their apologies under their breath, never looking me in the eye. Turns out Figi was turned into a monkey by the witch. She turned human again when the witch died the first time. Which was news to me since I had been unconscious when she died the first time. The elves took me back to their castle the next day, which took all day. I refused to go home until I found out what happened to Brooke. The elfin princess was cured, thanks to my accident with her "poison". In my spare time, I played with the little elves in the forest. This was where I got another message from Brooke. This one had three words on it. It said watch for danger. Nothing else.

A.N. It's really short, I know, but I had SO MANY difficulties with this chapter. Be glad that it's as long as it is. As for the next chapter, you're gonna love it. It's from Brooke's point of view, and I've been looking forward to this one for a while now.

So . . . I'm gonna need a quote before I end this. I'll use a quote from Mersedez C's book. She isn't on Wattpad, but she's helped me out SO much, and her book . . . from what she's told me . . . is FREAKING AWESOME!!!

"When you're outnumbered . . . ESPECIALLY BY WOMEN . . . you stand down."

- Mersedez C.

Now to end things on a sour note. I'm NOT going to update the next chapter until I get a few comments (3-5) and 10 total votes, whether they're for this book or Second Earth. (Preferably this book)
