Stepping up out of bed not at all reluctant
A 5 hour night sleep doesn't need an introduction
And I don't like to critique, no not in any way
But some teachers think there's 50 hours in a dayNot trying to make excuses, no not by far.
Because I don't have time 3 essays are due tomorrow
And a history report, science project and math.
Feels like I got 10,000 pound on a pack on my backAnd when I dropped on the floor "BOOM" "PLOW" "SPLAT"
Have kids down the hall asking "what was that?"
And I'm trying to pay attention because my grade just fell
But without any windows this room feels like a cellOh but the real fun starts when that 3rd hour class ends
Because when that lunch bell ring is when the races begin
But don't get me wrong the lunch by far don't rock
But they're just following orders, thanks a lot BarackAfterwards you get back to class, the end is closer
Until you realize. The day is only half way over
With already 3 hours of homework with no signs of letting up
All hoping your grade gets a 1 percent bumpAnd at the end of the day you lay in a daze wondering how much it pays or what's the wage?
For if just quit school and worked at McDonalds all dayFinally, at the end of the day you jump up and bolt
And if you pushed someone over it isn't your fault?
Because that's what you learned. That you don't worry about anything else.
And that what makes you a good person is what you do in between bells. But you don't think about that.
You made it through another day
"Learn anything at school?"
No I sayOther than how to be more of a listener less of a doer
You know? All that good stuff we need to know for the futureBut when the homework is done and my mind is sleepy and hallow
I brace myself.
For another 50 hour day tomorrow.
