"Goodbye, Mike." The words stung. A deep piercing pain in his heart. His head hurt. Actually, everything hurt. Mike let out a silent yet choking sob, squinting against the salty tears flowing down his face and the bright flashing lights. He quickly put his head down, ignoring Eleven's scream and the power that was chokingly thick in the air. He sobbed silently, finally lifting his head to face the cloud that began deteriorating as soon as it hit the ground. Mike scrambled to his feet, rushing past his friends. "El!?" He shouted, tears continuing their sure path down his face. He collapsed into a heap on the hard ground, sobbing and ignoring his friend's gentle pats. Where is she?
Fall, 1988, 2:30 a.m
Mike sat on his bed, staring distantly at a photo of him, El, and the others that Johnathan took. He sighed placing the frame gently on the window sill of his room, pausing to stare at the moon. Mike finally laid down, cuddling his pillow. A whole year has passed since Eleven saved them all, and he still felt bad about it. He slowly passed his hand through his raven black hair, sighing again and closing his eyes wistfully.
9:45 a.m
The boy shot up in his bed, choking back tears. Mike shook off the fragments of his dreams, whining softly. He shook his head, sliding out of his bed and sluggishly dragging himself to his kitchen, lazily dragging a brush through his hair. He ignored his mother's greeting and threw the brush on the couch, grabbing his coat, and setting out to school on his bike. He finally arrived after what seemed like forever, and plunked down next to his clearly worried friends, ignoring Dustin's questions. He shrugged slightly, tanking through school silently.
3:45 p.m
Dustin walked with Will and Lucas, silent concern flecking all of their gazes. They stopped at The Wheeler's, knocking on the door. Karen responded, smiling at the three. "Mrs. Wheeler," Dustin muttered, glancing back at the others. "Is Mike here?" He finished, raising his eyebrows expectedly. "No, Is he with you?" She responded. Will jabbed Dustin in the side, quickly pointing at Mike's missing bike. He quickly let out a nervous laugh, backing away. "I just remembered we were going to suprise him kthanksgottagobye-" The three immediately grabbed their bikes and took off, leaving a confused Karen. Will soon took the lead, skirting to a stop as they watched Mike drop his bike.
Next to the cliff.
