Fortitude.
What's in the mark, that is fortitude.
To what quality does it allude?
How do I measure its true value?
How does one know they have enough?
How can one's strength be up to snuff..
To tell the world that "I'm alright."
When bright turns to blight, dark as night.
I struggle in the grief that life provides;
To be the one in which others can confide.It's so hard,
To disregard,
How badly charred;
Is this battered heart.
Stiffened by the burn,
Tested at every turn.I imagined strength triggers sympathy.
Unlike this unwarranted hostility;
Towards those who cannot see-
The context of this anxiety.Resilience.
What's in the mark, that is resilience.
To master strife with eloquence?
To meet apathy with indifference?
I fear there's a fine line between-
-being tenacious and unpitying.
To understand that the world doesn't owe you anything!
Not commiseration, nor charity.
To accept this premise wholeheartedly;
Is the very skill I'm still learning.
Torn between sufferance and heartlessness,
To love in this bitterness
To forgive those who don't understand;
This plight is unplanned.
How can I hate the world for what's befallen me..
They keep saying this is temporary.
Fleeting and momentary.
Brief and transitory.Endure, persist, survive.
This cocktail serves to fortify.
But don't forget to be kind,
Keep showing people you're fine.
That you are fazed not one bit.
Flesh and bone made of true grit!
Withstand, outlive, outlast.
Make your woes a thing of the past.
Surely this can't stay forever?
Soldier on with all might and valour.
Somehow, someday, this rage is subdued;
Defining out loud, the mark..of fortitude.

This Stronghold is Too Strong
PoetrySome of us, when put into a situation that requires us to be strong, find it hard to not surpass the threshold of strength, into the grim territory of ruthlessness. We build a wall around us and push whoever gets too near into the moat.
