The police never did find that man that had broken into your house. All the dogs had found was a black hoodie, still faintly glowing from the liquid of those glow sticks.
It's been a week now and you had been more cautious than ever. Every time you left the house or left work, you always made sure you had every key. You wouldn't make the same mistake twice. You had a feeling that you were targeted now, though nothing had happened since that night. You refused to let your guard down. You had the day off today but had gone out to get groceries, only now arriving home. You stopped by the mailbox to grab the mail before going inside with your groceries. Fumbling with the key while holding the bags before the door swung open, stumbling inside and kicking it closed with your foot. You got the bags to the kitchen and set them on the counter along with the mail before going back over to your door and making sure it was locked. You sighed with relief that that was finally done before going back to the kitchen and sitting down with the mail. You flipped through the usual bills but stopped at a letter that had your name on it. You looked at it in confusion, no addresses at all. Only your name. Meaning someone would've had to have put it in the mailbox themselves.
You opened up the letter and looked to it.'You've made a lot of people very upset with you.
If I were you, I'd be careful. They are coming for you.
Tonight.'
The handwriting looked very nice, perhaps feminine. The word they was bolded, only making you confused. Who was they? Who wrote the letter?
You set the letter down and got up, going around the house and making sure everything was locked down and secured. Once you made sure that everything was okay, you went back to the kitchen, working on putting away the groceries. Going over to the sink to get a glass of water, you looked out the window and froze. Standing there were 3 people just staring at the house. One of them had a blue hood over his head and was looking down at the ground, blood stained hatchets swaying at his sides. The other two wore masks, one white and one black. Just as soon as you had seen them, they seemed to just have vanished.
You stepped back, a bit in shock, and kept looking out the window. Part of you wanted to believe it was just your imagination but in your gut you knew that was not the case. You closed the curtains over the window and grabbed your phone from your pocket, immediately calling the police about the letter. You weren't going to be fucking stupid and just not call them.
You waited until they arrived and handed over the letter to them which they put into an evidence bag to check for prints. After what had happened with the man that had already been here, they were not going to be taking any chances with this. So many lives had already been lost to the killers that seemed to roam this city. They were going to leave you with 3 officers, 2 to watch from the street outside and the other to stay inside. They would be equipped and prepared for if anything happened and would call for backup immediately if something were to happen. You thanked them as they left to get everything prepared, and within the hour the officers staying would be ready.
It was about 5:30 p.m. and the police were ready. 2 males officers stayed outside and the officer staying inside with you was female as they thought that would make you more comfortable. She wasn't much taller than you were but she tried to keep the mood up and make it not seem like you were being targeted. You weren't scared but you did feel more at ease knowing that you were not alone with the threat hanging. You sat on your couch with the woman, talking about your families and just having a pretty normal conversation. Her hair was long, a bit waved, and black. Perfectly matching her dark colored eyes. You found out that both of your parents had been murdered, hers by a crazed killer that burned her house down. Her smiled only ever faltered when you explained how your parents had been murdered.
"I'm so sorry dear, that must have been awful to hear" She said with sympathy, her eyes gave away that she knew something she wasn't telling. But you just shrugged.
"I've had years to live with it, it hurts a bit still but I won't let it rule me."
You soon stood up and handed her the TV remote. "Feel free to watch whatever you want. I'll be upstairs if you need me."
She nodded at this "Not necessary but thank you."
You went up the stairs and sighed as you went into your room. You sat down on your bed and pulled out your laptop, opening it up to casually watch some YouTube, maybe it would calm down this feeling of dread inside you. You were halfway through a video before the video seemed to glitch and turn black. You frowned at this.
'Hello again..'
The words typed along the center of the screen. "Oh hell no, not this shit again" You growled in response. Remembering what had happened when that weird site had shown up on your computer. The words disappeared as new words replaced them.
'You shouldn't have done that...'
In that moment your screen glitched again and soon a pale hand seemed to start slowly reaching out. The fingers glitching, a face starting to appear. The eyes black with red irises and black dripping down their cheeks. "Now I'm-"
You slammed the laptop shut.
"Fuck that shit. This ain't The Ring or Scary Movie 2." You scoffed as your laptop seemed to try to get open, you calmly walked over to your desk and dug around the contents in the drawer before pulling out a roll of silver duct tape and wrapped tape around it, making sure it would stay closed before throwing the tape back in the drawer and putting your laptop away in the bag you had for it. You shook your head and grumbled before you went and laid back on your bed. It was almost 7 now and you were emotionally exhausted from the day. Creepy letters, weird ass bitch trying to get through your laptop screen. Yeah, definitely just normal every day shit. You went over to your desk and picked up the book you had started reading awhile ago. At least a book wouldn't somehow become possessed unless it suddenly turned into a monster book like from Harry Potter. You sat back down on your bed and flipped to where you had last left off.
Something was wrong. You groggily woke up, you had fallen asleep while reading. You looked to your clock. 11:53 p.m. You got out of bed and stretched, setting your book on your nightstand. You looked around your room. Nothing seemed to be out of place, and you could faintly hear the TV downstairs. Something wasn't sitting right with you though. You went over to the window and peeked out the curtains. When you looked out, you wished you hadn't. The 3 men you had seen earlier today were back. This time, the one in the orange hoodie had a gun in his hand, and the one in the tan and blue jacket had a hatchet in each hand. He looked up to your window and you could see the gleam of his orange goggles. Time seemed to go slower. You were only snapped from your thoughts as the man in the tan jacket and white mask suddenly made a break for your house.
They were going to try and get inside.
