You were running. You couldn't get away from that laughter. It was all around you, it was growing louder. You couldn't see anything, it was dark.
You felt like you weren't moving anywhere. Your legs were moving, but you weren't.
The laughing was only getting louder, it was closing in. You saw a flash of green. You looked around, not far was red orbs, almost like eyes watching you.
"You've met with a terrible, fate haven't you?"You awoke from your bed in a cold sweat. You look at the digital clock on your nightstand.
2:34 a.m.
You brushed your (h/c) hair from your face as you took a deep breath. You got up from your bed and headed downstairs to the kitchen, getting a glass of cold water. You leaned back against the cool counter top with your glass in hand as you tried to recall the details of the dream. You couldn't remember much except the chilling voice. What it said you couldn't recall but something about the voice sent a chill down your spine. Something was off about it, but you shrugged at it anyway. Not like it really mattered, it was just a dream. But you did remember something else from last night.
The person at the window.
With that in mind you set your glass on the counter and went upstairs and through on a pair of jeans and a (f/c) shirt. You went back downstairs and headed outside, pulling out your keys and locking the door. Could never be too cautious.
You went around the side of the house and looked at the ground, broken bits of branch scattered on the ground and what appeared to be dried blood. Frowning at this you went back inside, locking the door behind you. Least you knew you weren't going crazy living alone like this. But in a town like this, you weren't taking any chances. Things were honestly getting a bit weird lately. Between the person who was trying to break into your window and the weird chatbox thing or whatever it was. You would have to be more cautious now, because like hell you would be the next victim in the god forsaken town.
Either way though. You needed to get ready and head to work, so you went and made sure you were all cleaned up before you got your keys and headed out. Locking the door behind you.-------
It was pretty late when you finally arrived home, you were exhausted by all the people today. Angsty teenagers being rude, a mother yelling at a child for being a disappointment.
It was sad the looks of disappointment people get when someone dyes their hair fun colors or wears clothes that are too dark.
It was a quiet drive home as you didn't even bother with turning on the radio, just listening to the soft sounds of the light rain hitting your car. You yawned as you pulled up in the garage, closing the garage door and unlocking the door inside. You head in, locking the door behind you and immediately went upstairs and got ready for bed. You didn't even bother to check your email or anything tonight, too exhausted from work. But what you hadn't noticed before you went to sleep. Was that the key to your front door was missing from your keys.
