NANCY DREW

COLLEEN SAT IN THE HALLWAY LEANING AGAINST HER LOCKER, ALONG WITH HWR FRIENDS BUT HER MIND WAS WANDERING ELSEWHERE. Hell, it wouldn't be natural if her mind was focused on the present, not with everything that's been going on in her life at the moment. Between her father going missing, followed by Will and now Barb— and now the mysterious stranger showing up at her house, she has barely been able to focus on anything. She felt like she was slowly turning into her own little detective. And just for this once, she wished she could go back to being a normal teenager, and having a very boring, but normal life.

Carol was laying across the hallway bench with her head in Tommy's lap, chewing on her pink bubblegum. She was telling a story that no one was really that interested in. Steve was tying his shoes, and Nancy seemed to be lost in her own thoughts as well. "So, I told Mr. Mundy... The solution of ten plus Y equals— blow me."

Tommy started to laugh along at his girlfriend, but Steve shook his head at her heinous story. There was no way any of that was true. "Bull, if you did that, you'd be in detention right now."

Carol grinned back at him, "Saturday."

Tommy and Carol started to bicker back and forth amongst one another. But suddenly, Nancy stood up and started to walk away from them and headed down the hallway. Steve looked over at her in confusion, "Hey, Nancy! Where ya going?"

Nancy turned around back towards them and ran a  nervous hand through her hair, clearly trying to make up an excuse on her sudden outburst. She shrugged, "I totally forgot. I... Uh, I told my mom I would, um... I would do something with her."

Steve quickly stood up and ran after her, "What do you mean? The game's about to start."

Colleen took that moment to stand up as well. If Nancy could ditch, then so could she. She called out to her cousin, "Oh yeah! Nance, I totally forgot that we had that... thing to do."

Steve raised an eyebrow at his best friend then turned back around to look at Nancy. Both of the girls returned his confused stare with a small, apologetic smile. "Come on. Really?"

Colleen patted his shoulder playfully, before following Nancy down the hallway. "I'm gonna make it up to you another day, okay?"

The two girls made their way outside of the high school and started to walk down the street. But when Colleen realized that instead of walking towards Nancy's house, they started to walk the opposite direction and towards her own house. Colleen grabbed ahold of her cousin's arm, "Hey, Nance. Where are we actually going?"
