Liam was going to pack up his and Charlie's things when the police had come to the house to take them away. The police had entered the house and found Liam crying on his bed. They had told him that they were looking for the person who did it and that they were starting funeral arrangements. Because Liam and his parents weren't close to their family, Liam was to be put in foster care based on the wishes found in their will.
The police told Liam that they would help him pack up and help him. Liam agreed and went outside with Charlie to pick up some of Charlie's toys. They were about to go back inside when a black truck came up in the alley behind the house. The man driving the car had told Liam to come near him, he also pointed a gun at Charlie so he could make Liam go near him. As soon as Liam went by the truck the man had told him and his dog to get in the car. So Liam, like any 14 year old who had a gun pointed at his dog he got in the car.
