"Please mom, i'll be okay,"I begged her, using my pouty lip.

"Dear, what if something happens? What if the witch finds you? What if you grow weak? Your made of fire!"Mother shouted, holding my hands with her small paws. Paws you ask? My mother and father are beavers. How do beavers make a human? And how am i made of fire? I'm a phoenix. The last of the kind, actually. The witch killed the others. And as for them being my parents..I don't even know how.

"Mom, i'll be fine,"I assured her, kissing the top of her head.

She sighed, staring into my green eyes with her brown ones. "Okay. Just bundle up and if you see the witch or-"

"I run, i know,"I smiled, kissing her head once more. "I'll be home soon. Love you."

"Love you, dear,"Mom said. I smiled then stood, grabbing all of my winter clothes, then left the dam. Father was outside, working on the dam as usual. He turned to me and gasped.

"What are you doing, deerling?!"Father yelped, running over to me. He had called me deerling ever since i was a baby, due to the freckles scattered across my cheeks and nose.

"Don't worry, honey,"Mother said from behind me. I turned my head over at her and smiled. "I told her she could go."

"But hon, what if-"

"She knows to run, dear. We didn't raise her to be a dumby,"Mother assured father. I giggled and hugged them both.

"I'll be back as soon as you know it,"I said, then stood back up.

"We're having fish and frozen berries tonight!"Father called as I started walking away.

"I'll be back. I never miss dinner!"I called. I stepped over the log separating us from our home to the woods, then I continued walking. Where was I going? Nowhere. Just out to get a walk.

I continued walking and i turned the corner into some trees. I glanced up at the sky and all i saw was grey and white clouds. The witch cursed us into a really long winter. For how long? I don't know, but it's long. I continued walking until i got to a small lamp-post. I used to come here when I was a little girl, around 6-7 with my mom and dad to create little snow families. I bent down to see the carvings of our names at the bottom. I smiled and traced my fingers along it, feeling the cold black metal brush against my finger tips.

I stood back up and turned, wanting to search around more. I glanced up and screamed, seeing a young girl standing there. She screamed as well and hid behind a tree, me hiding behind the lamp post. I stayed there, still trying to figure out was she was, until I heard a soft voice.

"I'm sorry. Please come out,"The voice begged. I slowly peeked around the lamp post and she smiled. I stepped out and tugged on my coat. I studied the little girl. She had short brown hair that stopped at her ears with a silver bow. Her skin was fairly pale and she was wearing a brown checkered dress along with a lighter brown cardigan with knitted on flowers.

"Who are you?"I asked, staring at the little girl. Who was she? How did she get here?

"I'm Lucy. Lucy Pevensie,"She said, sticking her hand out. I stared at her in confusion. Was that some sort of game? She stared at me and tilted her head. "You shake it. It's a way of greeting someone."

I tilted my head a little and then grabbed her hand, shaking it a little. "Amber."

"Your a daughter of Eve?"I asked as we pulled away from the "Greeting".

"..Yes. Your a daughter of Eve too..I think.."She said, confusion laced through her tiny voice.

"No. I'm a daughter of beavers,"I corrected her. She narrowed her eyebrows, staring at me in confusion.

"What do you mean 'beavers'?"She asked.

"Beavers. You know, those talking furry things,"I smiled. She nodded, staring at me as if I was crazy. "But what are you doing here..Lucy?"

"I came here through a wardrobe act-"

"A wardrobe? Is that in Narnia?"I asked, glancing around. I never heard of such a place called Wardrobe in Narnia.

"What's Narnia?"She asked.

"This is Narnia,"I said, gesturing around to the whole place.

"Wow.."She sighed, "It's awfully pretty..and cold."

"Yeah? You can blame that on the witch,"I mumbled, tugging on my coat again.

"The witch?"She questioned.

"Never mind. But where is this 'wardrobe' if it isn't in Narnia?"

"It's in England, silly. That's were I live,"She answered.

"Never heard of such a thing,"I said, rubbing my chin, trying to think of what 'England' could be like.

"Wow. How long have you lived here? How old are you? I'm 8 years old,"She said proudly, her hands on her small hips.

"I've been here for such a long time that..i can't even remember. And i am 10 years old,"I smiled.

"It sure is cold out here,"Lucy said, then shivered. I thought for a moment. Dinner would be served in a few minutes and i'm sure they wouldn't mind if Lucy tagged along.

"Lucy? How would you like to come to my home to have dinner?"I asked with a smile.

"I would love to!"Lucy grinned. I giggled and started leading her to the dam. Lucy had asked on the way what we were having and told me stories about her home back in the place named England. Whatever that was. Once we got to my house, she tilted her head.

"Is this a..dam?"She asked, staring over at me.

"Yes it is,"I smiled, opening the wooded door.

"But don't beavers live in dams?"

"Yes they do. I already told you my parents were beavers, didn't I?"I said then entered the small dam. "I'm home!"

"Oh my deerling, your just in time for-"Mother started, walking out from the kitchen, but then stopped when she saw Lucy. "Amber, who's this?"

"This is Lucy Pevensie, mother. She's a daughter of Eve. She came from a place named wardrobe which is in a place named England..it's kinda confusing but here she is,"I giggled, pointing to Lucy. Lucy stepped forwards and then bent down, staring into my mother's eyes with a smile.

"You are quite beautiful, Mrs.Beaver,"Lucy smiled politely.

Mom blushed and smiled back. But of course i couldn't see the blush through her fur. I knew she was blushing cause she would always raise her shoulders and curl her paws together.

"Thank you, dear,"She smiled, then looked over at me, "but i wish you would have told me she was coming, Amber. I would have had time to clean my fur up."

"No Mrs.Beaver, it looks lovely,"Lucy smiled, petting her head. Mom smiled and then gasped, running into the kitchen.

"What's wrong mother?"I asked, pulling all of the layers of clothing off of me.

"The fish!"Mother yelped. I shook my head with a giggle and plopped down on the couch. Lucy came over and sat next to me.

"How are your parents beavers when your a human?"Lucy asked. I looked up at the wall and then turned to look at Lucy.

"It's a long story. I don't even really know the answer. All i know is i've been with them ever since I can remember.."I explained, then took a deep breath.,"and as for the human part..i'm not only human."

"Then what are you?"Lucy asked, interest showing through her blue eyes.

"I'm..part Phoenix."
