The elementals. The most powerful dragons in history. They watch over the land in the absence of the 'mother dragon' Gaia. She gave up her physical form to banish the 'demon dragon' Lokisith. In doing so, she created the six elemental dragons; earth, fire, water, wind/weather, light, and shadows. They would be reborn each time into a new body, once the old one is slain, having similar or exact characteristics as the first elemental. When they were created, they went by their elements name, seeing as they had none.
Light and Shadow never got along and were always at each others throats. Water and Earth always had to calm them down, while Wind and Fire looked on indifferently. Water and Shadow were the closest of friends, often calling the other their sister. Earth and Fire had a brotherly relationship, while Light and Wind were mates.
One day, while trying to settle a dispute between two kingdoms, war broke out. Sending a rift between the six as they were supporting the kingdom they thought was right. The war stretched on for years, seemingly never ending. In one battle, while Water and Shadow were fighting along side one another, Water was slain by Light. Shadow was devastated over the loss of Water's life and called off the war, stating that the loss of an elemental was to great of a cost, even for war.
Wind, being the kind hearted dragon she is, tried to comfort Shadow. Said dragon, in a grief induced rage, snapped and lashed out at her fellow elementals. Screaming, "None of this would have ever happened if we could have sorted the problem out!"
Shadow drove the others from Water's body, believing that they caused her sister's death. She had buried the fallen elemental in their favorite place to go star gazing. The others could see that Water's death had made Shadow depressed. Her once black scales became a dull grey, and her red spikes, claws and wing sails had faded. She also wasn't eating as much as she should have been. They all tried to get Shadow back to her happy, joke telling self, but she never changed.
In time, Shadow perished. Having starved herself to death. This had impacted Fire greatly, for he loved Shadow with all his heart. Few weeks went by and Earth had found Fire at the bottom of a gorge, immobile and lifeless. Earth in blind grief, slaughtered the other two elementals before flinging himself into the ocean.
"Though it is said to have happened thousands of years ago, historians have not been able to find evidence that these six dragons had even existed, save for a few mid-evil drawings." Shade read to herself.
"Oh, if only they knew about the truth." She said as she looked out the bus window, eyes flashing dragon-like for a few seconds in the windows reflection.
