One Chance

Chapter One

It all began one Halloween night. It was cold as ice outside, so we decided to stay indoors and play a game instead. I turned off the lights to my old looking house, the wall paint was beginning to peel off and the structure looked as if it was going to collapse at any second. As I reached towards the light switch the lights flickered and then turned off.

"What a way to start our night" Kearstyn said as she rolled her eyes

"Don't make fun of my old house, you wouldn't want to be made fun of either if you were old and decaying" I said as I sat down beside her in my computer chair

"What are we even playing" Janae said as she entered the room with an arm full of snacks

"You stole those out of my fridge didn't you" I asked her as I turned on my computer to make sure it still works

"I asked you first" she said as she sat down beside me

"A little old game that used to be all it's ages" I said as I started up steam

"It better not be FNAF" Janae yelled as my computer grew dark, "my heart can't handle that"

The screen lit up again, big white lettering appeared on the screen.

"Slender man" I said in a spooky voice

Lightening flashed across the sky as I said that, perfect timing.

"What's Slenderman" Janae asked

"He's an urban legend that is said to roam the woods at night killing children like you and I" I said as I slowly turned up the volume

"If you're trying to scare me it's not gonna work" Janae yelled

"Shall we begin" I asked

"Let's get this over with" Janae sighed

I clicked the start button. As it began our character appeared in the woods; alone with only a flashlight to guide the way. I moved him around the screen until we found our first page.

"Not so hard" Janae said gripping onto her pants

I continued moving him until we reached a medium sized building, maybe a restroom? I slowly walked to the entrance.

"You're not going in there, I've seen enough horror games to know that's a bad idea" Janae yelled

I slowly moved him in there.

"Of course she doesn't listen" Janae whined

I maneuvered him through the narrow halls until we reached our second note. I quickly turned and then walked out. I began to walk again, slowly walking towards some lonely pillars in the ground. I grabbed the note from there and walked away. The next note was in a long tunnel, that could be the resting place of killer clowns if  it was real. I quickly grabbed the note and turned around. As I turned around, I saw the black tuxedo of a tall white figure.

"Run" Janae yelled

I moved him as fast as the game would let me. With each step I heard him grow closer. Next thing that I knew, he was right in front of me. He picked up my character and tilted his head.

"I don't remember that being part of the game" I said

The screen then glitches out and grew dark.

"That's weird" I said as I shook my mouse, "maybe it was a fan made game that I accidentally downloaded"

As I bent down to check my wires, Slenderman appeared from the dark screen. Janae screamed. The room glowed white as I began to feel nauseous. I held onto my head, it was pounding like I was having a hangover. I turned around and saw my friends pass out.

"Let the games begin" A low male voice called out
