The blaring sound of the pounding of the alarm caused my hand to fly out from beside me and easily turn it off. My eyes fluttered open as the sun began to appear gradually around my pale purple room. I carelessly rubbed my eyes removing any sleeping dust that would have formed before lifting myself up into a sitting position.
My eyes flickered from the open window towards my door that was partly open. My mother must have came in. Whenever she wakes up she always comes into my room and opens the window ever so slightly, she does the same to Ellie's as well. It's her way of saying she's here, even if she has her visitors round.
I lifted up my covers before swinging my legs over my bed until they touched the cool floor making me question why I never asked my mum to get me carpet for my bedroom. I glanced at the alarm clock seeing the red numbers showing that it was 9 in the morning. I pushed myself off my bed and walked towards my laptop that was sat on my desk before opening it and checked through my emails, a few were offers from collective shops and others were notifications from social medias. As I was scrolling through them only one stood out, it was a email from Peter. I hovered the mouse over the email and quickly deleted it without even looking over his false words then I closed down my laptop.
A knock on my door was brought to my attention, "Kaitlyn?" I heard Ellie ask.
"Yeah?" I called back as I got off my swirly desk chair and walked over to my cupboard.
There was a small sound of shuffling before the door clicked open and my sister walked in, "did you get the email?" Ellie asked as she nervously moved her feet against the floor.
I nodded my head curtly as I pulled out a pair of denim shorts and a plain white t-shirt, "yes. I deleted it. Just ignore them okay?"
"He's been emailing more now and sending letters. Mum will find out." Ellie pressed as she gave a sigh of annoyance.
I rummaged through my drawers until I got out a new pair of underwear then I looked at Ellie, "we don't need to tell her, she doesn't need to know." I answered.
Ellie ran a hand through her brown hair, "I feel bad. Keeping this from her, why can't we tell her?"
"We aren't doing anything wrong Ellie. He is. He shouldn't be having contact with us." I retorted letting the anger seep through my voice before I looked away as guilt flooded through me. I hate snapping at my sister, it was rare that I ever did. I quickly built back up the walls keeping all the anger hidden, "I'm sorry. Can you please just ignore them? They will stop I promise. As soon as he realizes we don't want anything to do with him."
Ellie nodded her head as she glanced down at her hands, "okay." She mumbled.
I nodded my head and looked away from her, as soon as I heard the small click of my door closing I felt my shoulders fall. I dropped my clothes to the floor as I placed my hands on the wall to hold me up as my breathing started to come out in short takes. I closed my eyes as everything came flushing back, everything he put us through.
My breathing soon regulated back to normal. I bent down and picked up the clothes in my hands into a tight hold and then headed into the shower that was joined onto my room. I went to lock the bathroom door, then reached into the shower and turned it on. I pulled back and looked in my mirror seeing a pale face staring back at me. My cheeks were slightly flushed from my panicked breathing earlier, my hair was all over the place. If only the movies were true and girls do wake up with perfectly styled hair but this is reality.
