1. Keep your hands folded and stand up straight
2. Always display a smile when greeting an alpha
3. Always look directly in an alpha's eyes when he speaks to you.
4. Never speak improperly when answering a question.
5. Never disobey your alpha

I sighed as I read through the notes I took during my preparation class for the auction. Each and every rule made my stomach churn awfully as scowled at them all. It was ridiculous that there were so many things omegas had to do if we didn't want to be punished. I mean, why would they be offended if I didn't look them in the eye during a conversation? It all just pissed me off, but I knew that I couldn't speak negatively of it, unless I wanted to be punished.

Anyway, there were only a few hours until the auction, and all of the omegas, including me, were being dressed for the occassion. Depending on what classes we were in, advanced or remedial, determined what kind of suit we would wear. The remedial class omegas wore black suits while the advanced wore white ones. In my opinion, it didn't make a difference, but the suits helped the alphas determine which of the omegas were the best. Unfortunately, there were only sixteen advanced omegas, me as well, that were going to be attending the aution while there were twenty-four remedials, so the alphas were really going to have to spend some money if they wanted an advanced omega.

It was all too confusing for me to be honest. I just wasn't looking forward to being bought and taken by an alpha who was into some crazy shit. Knowing my luck, I'd be bought by someone who loved to chain me to a wall in a dark room for hours.

As I waited for my suit to be fitted to my measurements, Peter came rushing towards me with his suit already on him. "Marley!" He squealed as he threw his arms around me. "Look at me. Don't I look fancy?" He said happily as he posed proudly.

I smiled and nodded. "You look great, Peter."

"Thanks. It's too bad I won't be wearing a white suit with you." He sighed in a disappointed manner. "You'll probably be bought first anyway since you're top of the class."

I shrugged. "Who knows? I might not be appealing enough."

He rolled his eyes, obviously not believing that. "As if! If I had a face like yours, then I'd be bought in a heartbeat."

That was nice of him to say, but I didn't take it as a compliment. I hated my face because it gave me attention that I never even asked for. The lecherous looks from my alpha teachers and hatred from my fellow omegas were all caused by the way I looked. Hell, if it wasn't for my face, then I wouldn't be in the advanced classes anyway. Just another way for the orphanage to make money.

I smiled sadly and nodded. "Thank you."

He nodded back and left me to finish up my fitting. I sighed to myself and wondered if Peter would ever come to understand alphas like I did. I hoped not. I was harrassed countless times by beta and alpha workers and teachers. If anything, I hoped Peter would be bought by a nice, older alpha, who just wanted to settle down. At the very least, that was what I was hoping for. I wasn't hoping for true love and a good family, just something simple to manage in everyday life.

"Okay, omegas, line up!" Our leader commanded. "Now, I want the advanced omegas on the left and the remedials on the right."

We did as he asked and stood in perfectly straight lines, like we were taught. He began to go down the rows and check for any imperfections before the auction, which was going to start very soon. My stomach churned harshly with each second that passed. I didn't want to go up on that stage with dozens of eyes staring right at me, coming up with ways to make me the "perfect" mate. All of me wanted to run and find the closest window to jump out of, but I knew I wasn't fast enough, especially with guards at each end of the halls.
