Chapter 10

Noel's P.O.V.

Okay, twilight zone here I come!

'Cause, my life just turned to something straight off the sci-fi channel! Here I am standing next to Chris, my werewolf mate, staring out at the woods behind his parent's house...waiting. Waiting for what, you might ask? Well...a six foot black wolf. Or in other words his Dad, Nick the Alpha. Hmm...its a good thing that I like to read or none of this would make sense to me!

"He should be here any minute now..." Chris muttered. "He said he was only minutes away."

Now, I was confused...how does a wolf carry a cell phone around with them? Wear it on a collar? Carry it in their mouth? Or, hey, even one of those little barrel things that St. Bernards used to wear back in the day?! Wow...I'm really going crazy.

"Chris, how exactly are you talking to Nick?" I asked before I could stop myself.

"In my head." He answered, still staring into the trees.

"What?! Please don't tell me you are a mind reading werewolf..." Good lord, I should have been keeping my thoughts in check!

Chris laughed deeply before answering, "relax babe, I can't read your mind. We can only talk to other wolves if we choose to...its harder in human form but we can still do it if we need to."

"Oh...okay." I sighed in relief. Just imagine if he could read my mind...damn that would be embarrassing, especially with me undressing him in my head every few minutes!

"Finally! Damn, Dad, took you long enough." Chris said just as a huge black wolf sauntered out of the trees. The large wolf seemed to give us a goofy dog grin, his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth.

"Hi Nick!" I said grinning back at him. Honestly, I should have been scared but instead I just thought he looked cute.

"Woof!" He barked before taking off to the shed nearby. Minutes later Nick walked out, clothed thank God.

"So did you find anything?" Chris asked.

"Well, sort of. I followed his scent to the river but I lost it there." Nick's booming voice said.

"Did you recognize his scent?" Chris asked hopefully.

"Yes, but that is what I don't understand..." Nick looked puzzled for a moment. "He smelled just like my father."

"What?! I thought you killed him..." Chris said surprised.

"So did I, son. So did I." Nick said looking up at the house expectantly.

In seconds Angel was running down the back steps, a huge smile on her face. "Nicky! I swear you are gonna give me a heart attack one of these days. You said you'd be back hours ago!"

"I'm sorry sweetheart." Nick mumbled. Angel only kept running until she was in Nick's arms, both of them releasing a sigh at the embrace and I couldn't stop the smile from creeping up on my face.

These two people truly and deeply love each other unlike anything I've ever seen, especially for a couple that have been together for as long as they have and honestly, I was jealous. I want that love. I want a man like that...one that looks for me first in a room, one that can't wait to be back at my side when he's gone...one that loves me with his whole being.

I couldn't help but look at Chris in that moment and think, I've never felt for someone as strongly as the way I did him. I couldn't stop the way I found myself pulled to him. The closer and closer I got to him the more intensified this pull became. It almost reminded me of Coulomb's law...the force of attraction between two charged particles, proportional to the distance between them, like magnets...the closer they get the stronger the attraction.
