Chapter 11
Chris' P.O.V.
Life couldn't get much better than this. Truthfully.
Noel is perfect. Absolutely perfect...
Dinner was interesting to say the least. Both of us almost too involved in each other to even think about what the chili tasted like. Her kisses were just too addictive, too tempting, too good. Eventually, we were able to pull away from each other and clean up...yes, Noel still wore my shirt. Yes, she tried to hurry away to change it. No, I didn't let her. Just the sight of her barefoot and nearly naked in my house was almost more than I could ask for.
We currently sat cuddled on my couch watching a movie, to tell you the truth I hope every night from here on out we could be doing just this...well that is after I ask her to marry me that is. It's only been days but I know there is no one else out there for me. She is it.
My internal ponderings were quickly put on hold when a knock sounded at the door. You know the kind everyone uses when knocking on a friend's door. I wasn't too worried, just figured one of my idiotic cousins decided to take a run through the woods over to my house.
“I'll be right back.” I told Noel, kissing her on the forehead before I disentangled myself from her silky limbs.
“You better be. It's already colder now that you're not here.” She whined. Damn, even that was cute. I wonder if she'd ever do wrong in my eyes?
I smiled to myself as I turned down the hall to the front door just thinking of the rest of my life with this beautiful woman. The smile stayed on my face long enough for me to open the front door, where it promptly disappeared. I didn't recognize the man standing at the other side of my threshold but something about him seemed so familiar....
“Can I help you?” I asked him, closing the door a bit, hoping to block the sight of my mate lounging on my couch.
“Yes.” He growled then attacked...

Noel's P.O.V.
The cold air hit my legs almost as soon as Chris left my side. I hated it, being alone. Just his touch calmed me, aroused me, and made me feel whole all in one breath. I didn't notice it until he left, how much I cared for this werewolf mate of mine. How much I had come to care...Shit, I'll admit it, I love that man.
So, when I heard a crash behind me I couldn't help but feel like my heart was in my throat. I jumped to my feet, instantly looking for something to use as a weapon. Lucky for me a good ol' fire poker was left laying against the handsome stone mantle. How ironically cliche!
The cool iron was in my hands in an instant and I spun just in time to see a disheveled mountain man lunge my way. Holding the poker like a bat I quickly took a swing at his head. Quick, the man ducked my first strike and I found myself pushed up against the wall in a heartbeat, the poker lost on the floor. Panic quickly set in as his forearm found it's way up to my neck, cutting of my air supply. I tried to claw at his arm, kicking my bare feet that were swinging a good foot off the ground, but nothing worked.
I started to see dark spots in front of my eyes and it was then I realized I was truly in trouble. There was no way I was going out like this! I am a proud, strong, African American woman and I'll be damned if this crazy man was going to get the best of me! I threw him the deadliest glare I could muster under the circumstances, just before I lashed up quickly with my knee, feeling very satisfied when it connected with soft flesh. The man's grip softened slightly, just enough for me to catch a deep breath and jam my arm down over his, completely releasing his hold on me.
