2. Bad Moon Rising

After a heated discussion of whether or not the pack should go into the village, the girls finally managed to get back to sleep. Hayley had managed to convince them that marching into the village as a werewolf was not a good idea, especially when they were unsure if Hunters was still down there. She told them quite firmly that going into the village was simply suicide.

For now they would remain in their safe cave, and if there were any more encounters with the humans they would finally move on. Hayley was worried, she didn’t want to leave her home but she would feel terribly guilty if any of the girls were in danger because of her decision to stay.

Hayley tried to snuggle down into a ball again, she really had to get some sleep in order to keep her energy up. But it was hopeless. Every time she closed her eyes she could see the stunning human’s blue eyes watching her. She really wasn’t sure what the feelings she had around him meant. She couldn't be attracted to a human. It was impossible. She really hoped it wasn’t an Attraction, then she would be in big trouble.

Her mother had told her many wolf legends when she was a young pup. Hayley recalled many of the stories she used to tell her, but there was only one she could remember about the Attraction.

It was the story of an Alpha male. He had crossed many lands and met thousands of beautiful werewolves but none were his true love. He prayed to the moon that one day he would finally meet his love, and the next morning he met a woman that he had never seen before. They were instantly attracted to each other, and no matter what happened their bond would never break. Ever since this first act of Attraction, it was written in each werewolf’s destiny that they would find a mate, whether it be a wolf or human, just someone they would always love and care for.

Hayley opened her eyes again and to her surprise it was daylight. She shot up and realised she was alone, the 3 wolves were missing from the cave. Panic soared through her bones as she crept out of the cave. Then relief began to wash over her when she saw them working as a team to pick some berries for breakfast.

Hayley smiled and exited the cave, with a slow stroll she went over to help them. She stood for a moment and appreciated the beauty of land she called home. The sun had risen, and the view from the mountains was absolutely spectacular. The sky was bright blue which contrasted perfectly against the snowy mountains. The green on the trees looked beautiful and delicate as it worked as a camouflage to hide the 4 men hiding behind them.

Did Hayley see that right?

Hayley glanced back to the trees. There was definitely 4 humans carefully studying the girls as they picked their berries unaware of the humans presence. Panic rose within her veins, there was not much she could do in a situation like this.

'Girls don't look now and don't panic. But take the berries you have and quickly get back into the cave.' Hayley told the pack.

Hayley watched as the 3 girls began to look around confused at what she had just told them. Hayley sighed, there was only one way to get their attention sometimes..

'Now!!!' she screamed at them.

Suddenly the 3 wolves dropped their berries and ran back into the cave. Hayley swiftly followed them and they all lay low in the darkness of the cave. She hoped the humans would soon see they had vanished deep into the cave and wander back off to whether they came from.

'Who were they?' asked Lily. Hayley turned to see that all 3 of the girls were huddled and shivering in fear.

'I don't know. Hopefully they will go away soon' Hayley said as she tried to reassure them it was all going to be okay. She really hoped so.

The pack watched intensely at the opening of the cave, waiting for a sign of movement. But there was nothing. Hayley released the breath she wasn't even aware she was holding.
