CHAPTER 1: WANTED BY MY OWN KIND (DAN)

10 Days Later.

The rain hammers onto the Central's pavement.

I walk cautiously down the shift packed streets.

There are no humans.
Humans are dead.
Humans are in jail.
Humans are on the run.
I'm on the run.
From my own kind.
Brad wants all rebellious shifts dead.
And I am a rebellious shift.

I hold my hood up and the balaclava covers my face.
The rain is powerful.

I'm being followed.
I look behind me, a man in a black over coat backs out of the way when I look.
I walk a bit faster.
The man follows faster.
I break into a run.
So does the follower.
I run down a side alley that runs between a pub and a cafe.
I run to the end of the alley!
It's a dead end!

I turn to see the follower walking slowly down the rain drenched grimy alley.
"I have you Dan!" Laughs the follower, "Brad will love putting you in the Laughter room!" He practically screams with joy.
"Of course because Brad is insane he hires insane staff!" I yell.
It takes a moment to sink in.
"OY! NO ONE EVER CALLS ME INSANE!" Screams the man, he runs forwards his hands ready to strangle me.
BANG!
I've shot him.

As I run back out onto the street I think back to ten days ago.
Brad had released a poison that had killed a quarter of the UK's population.
Men, women and children died.
Then Brad broadcasted a live video the next day to every channel and frequency.
He was laughing.
Then he announced he was going to eliminate the remaining humans so the majority of the population would be shifts.
The people who walk around me are shifts.
Right now my friends are on missions too.
Silver Fox is breaking into Citadel 1.
And Dash is trying to find information on Brad.
Then after we have completed our missions we have to meet back at camp.
My mission has already been completed.
Locate the remaining humans.
I have found their base now all I need to do is get to it.
Undetected.

I walk through the busy crowds of shopping shifts.
I'm in the worst place to be if you're on the run.
I'm in the Central.
Also known as London.

I move off the busy high street and I head down a quiet road.

I look around to see if I'm being followed, then I shift into a wolf.
That's my Shift. A wolf.
I slink along the wall the rain making my fur wet.
No one will know it's me now.
Other people have wolf Shifts.

I continue down the quiet road, this road would be busy if there were still humans.

"HEY! A WOLF SHIFT!" Says a voice behind me, I turn to see five Soldiers.
"Yeah. We are looking for Daniel Snarp, he is a wolf Shift wanted for treason. Please shift to your human form so we can check you." Says the man, he's reading this off a wanted poster with my face on it.

Fight.
Or flight.
The two decisions flick through my brain.
Fight.
Flight.
Fight.
I pick...
FLIGHT!

I run in my wolf form at full speed away from them.
"STOP OR WE'LL SHOOT!" The man yells.
I keep running.
"F*CKING STOP!" Screams one solider.

I keep running in my lupine wolf form.

Then at the other end of the street are three soldiers.
I stop.
One of the three soldiers advance on me.
I growl.
He pulls out a gun.
"I know that's you Dan! Now say bye bye!" Says the solider sarcastically.
F*ck you I think.
Then I leap on him and bite his kneck.
God he tastes disgusting!
I stand up as a human and shoot the dying solider in the face.
"IT IS DAN!" Exclaims a solider.
They all shoot at me, the five Soldiers behind me advance too.
I shoot one solider in the leg, he falls over in pain. I shoot him in the face.

The other soldier comes towards me.
He shoots!

He misses.
Bang!
While he's distracted I shoot him in his privates.
I then shoot him in the kneck.

Down the road behind me, the five remaining soldiers run towards me guns ablaze!
"SH*T!" I shout.
I push off my right leg and go into a full speed sprint.

Bullets narrowly miss my body.
I keep running.

I shoot over my shoulder killing one solider.
I keep running.

Then I reach a busy shopping street, I push my way through the crowds of shopping shifts.

Behind me the soldiers follow.
The get trapped in the crowds.
They've lost site of me.

I slip away down a hidden alley...
