Ashliee and Gabe were both sitting on Gabe's bed, waiting for Eve. Gabe was looking down at his IPhone looking at a cool looking app. They heard someone walking down the hallway and humming in a low, repeated tone that sounded almost robotic. It sounded like a code she was reciting in her mind. The code was a sequence of ones and zeros, which seemed to be a computer code. She walked into the room.
"Hello. What assistance may I grant to you?" Eve said in an even robotic tone.
"Tell me about yourself, Eve," Gabe demanded.
Eve looked very human, but she had some kind of AI vibe to her. She looked like an adult. She had beautiful blue hair tied back in a loose fish braid, possibly done by herself with no intentional errors. Her face was completely clear, no scars or freckles. She seemed friendly but Gabe recently mentioned that she had a quick temper.
"Gabe, you know what system I am. Shall I introduce myself to the guest?" She asked again, turning to Ashliee. Ashliee confirmed that she was a robot.
"Yes."
"Hello, guest. I am Eve, what is your name?" She asked.
"I'm Ashliee Smith."
"Hello, Ashliee Smith, I am Gabe's family's personal AI assistant to help him. I am also classified as his guardian or most commonly known as a parent. I am his female parent, his technical mother. I can tell you about him if you'd like."
"No, Eve, tell her about Di Inferi. She's Newly Influenced," Gabe ordered.
"Di Inferi, known as the goddess of death. During her early years, she has been known to kill innocent early Greeks and Romans for fun and her own feast. In modern history, reports of many serial killers have emerged from many states along the East coast. The jailed serial killers have been reported as crazy for thinking that they have gone to a dark place just before they have been what is now known as being Influenced by Di Inferi. Only few Influenced have lived a full life without jail time, one of which is Gabe so far," Eve recited.
"Shall I warn the guest of what is to happen in her future?"
Gabe nodded in response, still looking down at his phone.
"Has she shown any signs of her current abilities?"
Gabe nodded again.
"Gabriel has three powers: Invisibility, Virtual, and Speed. Invisibility turns someone invisible at his need. Only works with one person at a time," Eve started.
"That explains why I wasn't seen by the police earlier, how did you do that?" Ashliee asked.
"Virtual puts him in a different world than what world he currently is in. Available for two people at once at will," Eve continued.
"Is that why-?"
"Speed gives him the ability to be faster than the average teenage male. Also gives him the ability to know what is happening up to 10 miles around his being," Eve concluded.
Gabe gestured Eve out the door and Eve left.
Ashliee and Gabe sat in silence. Ashliee waited for a response from Gabe, but she knew that he wasn't going to say anything. Gabe was sitting there staring at the wall now, his phone resting on his lap gathering notifications.
"So... I have to go now..." Ashliee said, breaking the silence.
Gabe snapped out of it and stood up quickly, "You can't! I mean, you can't. You have to go somewhere so we know you can't hurt anyone while you are at home."
"I have to go home, Sam might be worried," Ashliee said.
"Fuck Sam! You have to stay here!" Gabe said, grabbing her arm.
"What? Sam is my sister! You can't say that about her! I'm leaving! And let go of me, creep!" Ashliee yelled. She tried to dash out the door. Gabe used his speed to stop her.
"You can't leave... I- I don't want you to..."
"What? What do you mean?"
"Um- I mean, you can't leave. You have to get scanned for your abilities first."
"I'm leaving and there's nothing you could do about it," Ashliee said to Gabe.
"You can't-"
Without a word, Ashliee dissipated in thin air. Next thing she knew, she was at the front step of her one-story house. She attempted to regain balance again, but fell over anyways, almost hitting her head on a rock. Her phone slid out of her pocked and across the front porch.
She got a phone call. Ashliee sat up to look at her phone from across the floor and saw it was an unknown phone number. She ignored it and got up, dusting her hands and knees off. Her phone rang again and saw that it was another Unknown number, which was probably the same person who called her a few moments ago. Ashliee promised herself that she wouldn't tell her sisters what had happened, no matter what. They wouldn't understand anyways. She grabbed her phone and headed inside. She saw that the stranger had left a message and still ignored it.
Call me please
Ashliee sat in the living room with the TV off. The room was completely silent. The clock was the only noise that was made. Time seemed to slow down as Ashliee waited for her sisters to get home. She didn't know what to do. She constantly checked the time and waited for her sisters, but no one knocked on the door or walked through the front door for the longest time. The unknown number called again. Ashliee looked down at her phone and saw that the stranger had left another voice message, again ignoring it.
Ashliee got a text from the unknown number.
Ashliee, come back. We need to figure this out together. Me, you, and Eve. You have to get this all under control.
Ashliee looked back at the clock and it was half an hour past 6, a full hour her sisters should've been here. She was worried for them. Were they hurt?
"Ashliee! Sam! Anyone! Please... help... please..."
Ashliee sprinted out the front door.
