Whap whap whap whap whap whap, the noise grew louder by the second. Then a bright white light illuminated the sand around me. A man's voice came over the intercom: We found a survivor! Lower the ladder and medical supplies! I couldn't look straight up since the light was so bright. All around me the sand and brush flicked wildly as the wind picked up.
The next thing I knew, a young man, maybe in his 20's lowered down in a metal basket down to the shore.
"How long have you been here?" His voice was quiet and muddled from the whooshing of the wind.
"I-I don't know, I haven't been keeping track!"
"Are there any others with you?" A stated back at him for a moment, and quickly looked behind my shoulder.
"No, I'm alone."
"We need to get you out of here to seek medical attention!" He pulled me into the basket with him, and we rose higher and higher to the deck of the helicopter. Once there strangers clamored over me to try and hook up IV's and replace bandages. I could see the ground from the side of the chopper, and there I saw Mason and Cole, disappearing into specs as we flew away.
"I, survived."I gasped myself awake, and stared blankly into the darkness. My breath was heavy and shallow. How could I ever dream about leaving them behind? Even if they kicked me out? I can't do that. I wouldn't wish any of this on my worst enemy.
I made my way down to the shore and sat to where only the water could brush my feet. It was cold as ice, but still soothing. I left them. Without hesitation. It felt kinda good....
