"Phil. Phil wake up!" Dan was shaking Phil awake. They were about 5 hours into their flight when the announcer came on with safety procedure instructions.
"W-what?" Said a groggy Phil.
"Strap on your seatbelt." Instructed Dan. Stewardesses we're coming around and handing out what looked like inflatable plastic, large bags. One came to Dan and Phil's row, and handed them each a bag.
"What's this for?" Dan asked.
"Put your suitcase inside this along with all your belongings you don't want to get wet. These are for just in case something happens, sweetie." Said the stewardess calmly. Phil and Dan did as they were instructed and put their suitcase and duffle bag, electronic things, and wallets in the balloon-like bags.
"Dan, blow some air into it so it's like a floatie- Just in case." Phil suggested, sounding a little scared. Dan did so.
Suddenly they heard an alarm sounding off. The plane jerked left. Oxygen masks flung down. The plane veered right, almost on its side. Dan let out a yelp. The plane was almost out of control.
Phil reached over and grasped Dan's hand firmly.
"It's going to be ok." He assured Dan, "Trust me. we're going to be fine."
The pilot was barking orders to the stewards and stewardesses. People were screaming. Children were crying. The plane was out of control. It was total chaos.
"Phil?" Dan said worriedly, "What if we crash? Were at least 200 feet from land. I mean I can see a shore, but I can also see a giant grey cloud.." they heard a roaring thunder boom. Dan yelped again, "What if we die?!" A streak of lighting surged through the air like a bullet.
"What if I never see you again?!" Dan yelled.
"Dan stop! We'll be fine just breathe." Phil said with a slight crack in his voice.
All of a sudden the sky lit up. A white streak of lightning pierced through the clouds and shook the plane. They could see the ocean coming closer... and closer... and closer...
Everything went black.
