I run up to my room and grab my iPod before heading out the door and start walking towards Washington Street. I reach for the cool device in my pocket and hit the home button for it to turn on. The familiar picture of my mom, dad, and I on my 6th Christmas showed. I missed my mom.
Claire was her name. She was my everything. Not just my mom but my hero, the person I could go to in need, the person that fought off the monsters under my bed and in my closet. But, all that changed when mom said she'd be right back after going to pick up my father at work, leaving me with my grandmother. Why? Because an idiot decided to get drunk and drive knowing that it would danger others and crashed into my moms car! I was only seven... I still needed my mommy.
I feel a small droplet make its way down my cheek and my lips curl in. I wipe off my cheek and take a deep breath. Calm down Sage.
I unlock my iPod and turn on the song Clarity by Zedd. My favorite song.
After a couple more blocks and a couple other songs I see my destination. St. Maire's Hospital. I push the rotating doors and walk over to the secretary's desk.
"Um, Sage Atkinson here to see Ross Atkinson?" I question more the state.
"Oh, yes, Ms. Atkinson, your father informed me you'd be here about now. Here," she hands me a hospital pass. "You know where your fathers room is, dear?"
"I'm pretty sure," I reply. "Room 216, right?"
"You've got it," She says. "By the way, my name is Mary." Mary replies hold out a slightly wrinkled hand, smiling a bright white smile. I shake her hand.
"Nice to meet you Mary, as you could've guessed, I'm Sage." I say then laugh a little. She chuckles warmly.
"Yes, nice to meet you Sage, I'm quiet sure this won't be the last time we meet so, I'll see you later and God bless your father." She smiles. I smile sadly back.
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow, Mary," I start to walk to the elevator and hit the 4th floor button.
I get the familiar feeling of butterflies and light headedness while the elevator slowly makes it's way up to the floor my father is located on.
The elevator finally makes a halt. I step out and walk to the west side of the floor until I see Room 213. I walk down the hall a little more and find the closed door with the numbers 216 on it.
I knock on the door.
"Come in!" Calls a rough though weak voice. I slowly turn the knob and open the door. On the white, clean bed I see my father. His chocolate brown hair uncombed and messy, stubbles of hair on his sharp cheek bones, green-gray eyes. Now I see why mom kept him around. I silently laugh.
I walk over to his bedside.
"Hi, daddy." I say, giving him a hug.
"Hi, pumpkin." He replies before letting me go.
We talk about my first day of school and other things going on before I have to leave.
I put my headphones back into my ear and blast Say Something by A Great Big World. I hum as Christina's beautiful voice starts to sing.
"Hey!" I hear someone call over my music. I take out one of my ear buds and look to see a couple guys down the street, obviously drunk off their asses. I roll my eyes and keep on walking.
"Yo, don't keep walking away from us!" The voice calls again. I continue to walk but faster, turning up my music and ignoring them, hoping they'd take the hint and leave.
I feel a rough hand grab my arm and spin me around, tugging the earphones out causing me to yelp. I look to see a man that is only a couple inches taller than me with greasy blonde hair, a stubbly beard, and gray eyes looking back down at me.
"Where do you think you're going, pretty lady?" The man questions, the gross smell of beer filled my nose.
"Get off of me," I try to pull away from him but it makes him just tighten his grip. I yelp again.
"Now, be a good little girl and come with me." He whispers roughly in to my ear. I feel tears start to come down my cheeks.
"Please don't." I beg in a whisper. He start to tug me, ignoring my plea.
"Victor, let the girl go." A voice came from the left of us, making a blissful sensation go down my spine. I hummed as quietly as possible.
I look to see Devon. Devon Harris. What is he doing here?
'Does it matter?' A voice in my head questioned. 'He's here to save you so why ask?'
"Leave me to my business, Devon." The man with the stone hard grip on me said.
"I'm gonna tell you one more time. Leave the girl alone." Devon replied through clenched teeth. I shiver. That was sexy. Wait, what?
I yelp loudly as the grip became unbearably tight. Devon growls. Growls?
"No." Was the mans simple reply. Then something happened. Something impossible. Devon starts to shake, his teeth together, tightly. In a second, Devon was no longer Devon..and neither was the man.
I was thrown with such force to the side, when my back came in contact with a building wall, I screamed loudly. The excruciating pain made its way all through out my body, causing tears to freely flow.
The other guys with the gray eyed man did the same, turning into these huge beasts. I watch as they fight each other, fighting my own battle to keep my eyes open. I raise my right hand and place it on the back of my head and feel a liquid warmth.
As "Devon" finishes the last beast, I finish my battle and lose, letting my eyes slowly close.
I've finally updated!!!!! Was it good? Or nah?
