Stuck In Between (Twilight Fan Fic)

Chapter 8

"What in the world?" I asked as I spoted from the trees Jaceb and Bella, with motorcycles. Apparently Bella fell. What is she trying to accomlish by this? Kill herself?

"Embry," I said aknowleging the boy that was behind me.

"How did you know?" he whined as  he reached my side, pouting.

"You smell," I said smirking. "Dang, she's going to have a hard time..."

"Why are you spying on them?" Embry asked 

"Play along. You'll follow me out of the forest, and yes, we'll ruin their moment, and then I spot Bella and you get it," I said looking at her worried. "Get it?"

"But Jacob-"

"Don't be a crybaby." I said.

"Fine," he finally agreed.

"Okay, catch me if you can!" I said as I ran out giggling like crazy.

"Come here Cassie!" he yelled right behind me.

As soon as I saw Bella I stopped, and she looked at me wide-eyed. Apparently, Embry hadn't noticed because he tackled me to the ground. That, or he's good at acting.

"Urf! Get off me you big troll!" I laughed a little.

"First, appologise!" he said smiling wickedly.

"NEVER!" I said, knowing full well now that he was improvising.

"Then I'll just ahve to-"

Someone cleared their throat, and we both snapped our heads at a glaring Jacob. Bella's eyes where wide, and I lookid at her in confussion... util I noticed my position.

"That was not what it looked like!" I said pushing Embry off and standing up.

"Wasn't it?" Embry said hugging me as he laughed.

"No it wasn't!" I said glaring at him. He just loves to embarass me! Just like Paul!

"See ya later pup!" he said as he ran at the trees.

"That sounds wrong in so many ways! Stop calling me that!"

"What do you want us to call you, bitch?" he said jockinly, but when he caught my glare he coughed and muttered a 'sorry' and left.

"Dogs," I muttered crossing my arms.

"Cassie!" Bella shouted taking a step, but almost falling, of course Jacob caught her.

"Easy there!" I said smiling. "What happened to you?"

"Fell of a bike." she muttrereda ashamed.

"A bike? You're riding a bike? What would-"

"Don't." she said with a pained expression. "Please don't say his name."

"I wasn't going to say his name," I hissed. "I was going to say Charlie."

"Oh, sorry," she muttered ashamed.

" 'sOkay," I assured. "you should get that checked though"

"Okay, sorry, but who are you?" Jacob asked confused.

"Cassie," I said offering my hand which he shook still with a confused expression.

"Cassie, why have you been avoiding me?" Bella asked leaning on Jacob.

"Bella, I'm sorry, I just couldn't deal with... questions," I muttered annoyed.

"What do you-"

"Bella," I interrupted through her mind, as she seemed surpriced. "Please let me explain another day. You have to promise me something though, promise me you'll never mention I'm related to them. You have to."

"I promise," she said in a whisper.

"Thanks," I muttered in her mind yet again. "I've got a new family, they're nice... I'm living as a human now," I lied easily. "No one can find out."

"I get it." she thought.

"Good."

"Well, the guy'll be looking for me if I'm not home soon," I said smiling brightly. "Nice meeting you Jake."

"Wait!" he yelled making me turn to him with a raised eyebrow. "Why where you with Embry? How do you know each other?"

"I hang with them," I said, knowing full well by his thoughts that he hated Sam.  "They're really fun to be with really, I never imagined someone could cliffdive from so high! Totally worth a shot, in my opinion, I'll have to do it more often!"

"You sliffdived!" Bella shouted.

"'Course," I smiled. "See ya!"

With that I ran throught the forest, quicly took off my clothes, and phased, holding my clothes in my mouth. The guys might not care to see themselves naked, but I do, and they've never once invaded me while I do. Good for them.

"Where were you?" Sam asked angrily from the link.

"With Bella and Jacob," I replied easily, making my way to Sam's.

"What? Cassie you know-"

I tuned off my mind from his rant. He can be pretty boring when he wants to...

I phased back, changed in seconds and ran the few meters to Sam's. Sam himself was with everyone at the door, and Embry was grinning in a 'You got caught!" mock grin.

"Hello!" I chirped happily. "Now I'm really tired so I'll just-"

"You'll just do patrol all night," Sam ordered angrily.

"What, but-"

"You broke the rules, you get consequences. Now we now better than to let you out-"

"Hey there," I snapped. "Jacob's becoming one of us soon anyway! Besides, I see Bella all day at school, no need to be all pissed about it!"

"You don't get it, that Bella chick used to hang with bloodsuckers-" Paul started, but I growled, surpricing them all.

"Cassie, he didn't mean-" Sam said, noticind that he practically offended me.

"I'll just go patrol," I growled trembling as I turned around, and not caring for my clothes I turned to a wolf, which I notice was almost black and also bigger than before. 

"Cassie-"

I growled over my shoulder and speed off into the forest. Sometimes I just want to shout to thir faces how I'm part vampire, just to see what they do.

'The time might come,' a little voice in my head reminded me. I had of course blocked my thoughts from the others... I normaly do... but I couldn't help feeling paranoid when I thought about it in my wolf form. As much as I hate the nicknames, maybe it's for the better that they don't know... I have a family again, and I don't want to lose  it.
