Nathan's Perspective

I folded my arms tightly over my chest, frowning as I glanced over my shoulder at Taylor as she curled herself further onto the chair she was sitting it. It had taken a lot of coaxing, but I had finally convinced her to come report what happened to the police. On the way over, I had called Max and told him to meet us in town with the boys. I knew she would need all the support she could get. So far, Jay hadn't left her side. He was sitting in the chair beside her, running his hand in hesitant circles along her back. Siva had stepped out to get her something to drink while Max and Tom were at my sides as we waited for the officer to return from a phone call.

Hearing the sound of footsteps, I returned my attention to the desk we were seated in front of to find the officer sliding back into his seat. He sighed and folded his hands together over the desk, his eyes tired as he looked up at us. He eyed us and nodded in acknowledgment before sitting up straighter.

“So, from what you guys have said so far, you,” he nodded at me. “Took your girlfriend to a secluded cabin where no one would find you, you left for a few minutes to go to the cellar and not long after the lights went out. Your statement says that you got locked down there while your girlfriend was raped and then the door magically came unlocked a few hours later, is that correct?”

I furrowed my eyebrows, not liking the tone he was using. “More or less, yes, but the door didn't just magically come unlocked, I busted it open.”

The officer narrowed his eyes at me for a long moment, making me shift uncomfortably in my chair. I didn't know what his problem was, but he was really starting to irritate me. He sat forward in his seat, his gaze still on me. “You do realize that most fuse boxes are located in the basement, don't you? How exactly would someone sneak by you without you noticing they were there?”

My jaw muscles twitched as I threw my hands in the air. “I don't know, isn't it your job to-”

“Hold on,” Max interrupted, holding his hand up in front of me to silence me. He eyed the cop with a confused expression. “It sounds like you're accusing Nath. Since when was he a suspect?”

The officer shrugged, sitting back and eying Max with feigned interest. “He was the only one confirmed to be at the residence. Who else would have done it?”

I grunted and shifted forward, my anger starting to get the best of me as I snapped, “Isn't it your job to answer that? Why are you wasting your time accusing me when you should be trying to find the wanker who attacked my girlfriend?”

The officer rolled his eyes before taking a deep breath to collect himself and staring me in the eye. “It's a known fact that most rapes are done by someone the victim knows. You, being her boyfriend and being the only other person we know of who was there, are the prime suspect. To rule you out, your girlfriend would have to submit to a rape kit and we'd need a sample of your DNA.”

I raised my eyebrows and shrugged, sitting back. “Fine, whatever it takes to make you start doing your job.”

Taylor's Perspective

I shifted uneasily next to Nathan as we sat in the doctor's office, his hand resting tightly in mine as we waited for the doctor to return with the results. Jayne had suggested for us to go to a private facilitation to get it done to attract less attention to the boys. While Nathan and I were sitting in one of the patient rooms, the other boys were congregated in the waiting room. It was nice to have them all there for me, it reminded me that it was more than just Nathan that cared about me. I didn't even remember how I had become so close with all of them, but somewhere along the lines they had become like brothers to me. It was odd how life had taken a brother from me and given me four, plus a wonderful boyfriend, to help fill the void. They could never replace Jack, but they were just as amazing as he had been.
