CHAPTER 3

As we walked out the door we decided that Emily, Jane, and I would ride together and the boys would ride in their car. Emily gave us directions and we were there in no time. It was a grand house a little bigger than our house even, buried deep into the woods and a few streets away you could see the village where the rest of the pack lived.

I grimaced as Jane and I were escorted inside, my every sense on alert. I knew instantly though I didn't need to. I saw children running around playing wearing bright colored puffy tutus and the little boys chasing after them. I smiled as I saw the middle school looking girls lounging around with the boys in a separate group looking as if they wished they had the guts to go over and talk to them.

Then I saw the mated couples. All lovey dovey, holding hands, I didn't resent them considering I didn't want a mate anyway but I just didn't fully believe in public very PDA.

Then I saw the younger crowd, probably around my age that were a healthy mixture of mated and not, all staring at me -some curious, while some looked as if they were angry. I knew likely as to why, probably feeling threatened by my presence and the danger it usually brought- though it shouldn't be to hard to simply know that as long as they stayed out of my way I'd stay out of theirs.

I thought as we walked up to the front of the room where a small stage was and a podium with a microphone. As we walked closer and closer I noticed many cute teenage boys and I found another reason to really want to stay here. We walked up and onto the stage and Emily, Kendall and I stood against the wall as Paul greeted the pack.

He spoke of news relating the alphas whereabouts and finally he started to introduce us.

"Now I'm sure those of you who don't already know who those young lady is I'll you right now that she is Juliet Winters. You all know who that is and how much of an honor it is to have her here, now she is not a rouge and is a current member of the Winter's Moon Pack but will be staying with us until her um- well, her current safety situation is solved. But we will treat her and her sister Jane as if they are family, protect them as if they are of our blood, and welcome them with open arms, you have nothing to fear, Juliet would never deliberately hurt anyone with her abilities she just wants to be normal and the Alpha and I expect you to help her feel that way here in Aspen Forest" Paul said with a kind and caring tone but his level of seriousness could not be ignored or denied either.

I smiled warmly as they all clapped and cheered and the festivities began.

First we ate and I talked to Emily a lot not really getting a chance to talk to anyone else while dinner was going on.

In a few weeks the festival were several of the alphas from packs in neighboring cities would visit, was the Moon Goddess Festival. A beautiful, colorful, celebration in honor of the one true Luna, our great Moon goddess. And a lot of of the festivities celebrating the coming or the event started now.

There was dancing and singing and the soon some of the guys around my age I'd seen lounging around earlier built a bonfire and most parents took the children inside to play so the adults could put them to bed and continue their other conversations indoors. I was looking forward to get to know the others and get to know some of this packs dynamic. and somebody had set up a sound system and was blaring music all around us.

I hummed along with the music as it played, smiling and laughing as small children were tossed up into the air and twirled around by their parents. Listening as their laughter as well the laughs of others filled the air only adding to the beauty of the music.

Soon Emily introduced me to some of her friends who all seemed very welcoming and friendly despite the undertone of awkwardness in the air.

She walked with me over to a group of about 6 others who were all dressed in nice cute clothes but modest, they seemed to be dressed more for style than for showing off skin. I saw one girl wearing the cutest jeans, originally white but had splatters of a blueish denim colored paint all over them. Very clever.
