Vic's POV
That was fun. Now I think it's time to start preparing the stage for our turn.
As I walk backstage, Jaime joins me.
"Hey."
"Hi Jaime!"
Well I almost yelled that.
Jaime laughs, "I guess you're excited about today, huh?"
"Yeah, today's gonna be awesome. I hope this turns out well." I said nervously.
"Ah, don't worry, everything will be fine."
"Really?"
He laughed, "Yeah just make sure not to fuck up, or we're all going down with you."
"Asshole." I responded, laughing back.
Everything will be fine.
-
"You guys ready? It's time to go on.", one of the techs asked us.
Ok it's time.
"Yeah!", everyone shouted back.
-
As we walked onto the stage, I realized something was different.
The way our stage was set up wasn't any different from the way it was last time. But it still felt like something new.
Looking at the crowd, hundreds of people were cheering and screaming.
This crowd seemed different too. They seemed more powerful, energetic. Something about them made me feel like this was going to be amazing.
Walking up to the mic, I shouted,
"It's time to get this fucking thing started!"
The crowd responded with cheering.
Go and show them what kind of performance you can give.
"Up!
I cannot spend another night in this home
I close my eyes and take a breath real slow
The consequence is if I leave I'm alone
But what's the difference when you beg for love?
I run through glass in the street
Kerosene hearts carry the name that my father gave me
And take the face of the wolf.
'Cause this is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you, there's hell over me
I met a girl who never looked so alone
Like sugar water in your mouth lukewarm
She tied a cherry stem for me with her tongue
We fell in love and now we're both alone
I don't need any more friends
And another kiss like a fire on pavement
We'll burn it down to the end
Oh, oh
This is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you, there's hell over me
The water is rusted, the air is unclean.
And then for a second I feel free
This is a wasteland, my only retreat
I've waited all this night to honor you and say,
"I know it's hard, but who are you to fall apart on me, on me?"
This is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you, there's hell over me
'Cause this is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you, there's hell over me
You said what about us, well what about me?
Hang from the gallows and sleep in the rain
'Cause this is a wasteland, my only retreat
Paralyze me
Don't let me jump, don't let me fall!"
-
I looked at the crowd one last time, adrenaline pumping through my veins. Catching my breath I yelled,
"Thank you everyone for coming out here today! We fucking love all of you!"
Everyone starting cheering again as we got off the stage.
When we were backstage, someone handed me a small towel. I used it to dry up a bit.
Mike, Jaime, and Tony ran up behind me.
"That was awesome! Right?" Mike yelled.
"Hell yeah!" Jaime yelled back
Tony just smiled and nodded.
Jaime looked at me, "How'd you think it went Vic?"
I was out of breath, but I quickly nodded back.
"The best show yet."
-
"I think we need to get back to the bus now." Tony said quietly.
"Tony's right. It's 3:30 and we need to leave by 4."
"Then lets move it, amigos!"
Jaime laughed
Best show yet.
