"A contract? Wasn't that the devil who does those sort of things?" My response gained a half-assed snicker followed by a gesture telling me to follow.
"Yes the devil does do contracts and for one they are very similar to the big man's although his contracts just tend to be jobs."
A gust of wind pushed my dress up slightly into the wind allowing the soft breeze to run over my ankles.
"Did you get a contract?" I asked tilting my head to one side. It was an action I was quite familiar with to get answers out of Lucifer.
"I am a greeter. I get to greet those who die and I either escort them to hell or well here. I guided your soul here after they burned you."
"I see," I muttered walking along side him. Never in a million years did I think I'd get to see him again. "What were you two arguing about that night?"
"What?"
"With Adeline."
"Oh, she was simply fussing about the time I spend with you and I must've pressed some buttons to get bashed over the head." Lucifer paused staring at me in the eyes. It felt like he could see exactly what I was thinking and feeling. "We're here. I can't go any farther but just follow the path of sparkling clouds."
I didn't want to leave him but something about his facial expression told me I better hurry along. The clouds shimmered with a soft pale pink. I assumed this was the path I was to follow. The place wasn't all too bare; there was quite a bit of buildings and people that walked around and about. The only difference between me and them was that I wore white many of them wore any other color. I received the usual stares as I continued down the path but that didn't matter the place was amazing. My jaw dropped in awe as I stared at the white marble castle that lay before me. There was no door, instead it was a giant archway carved with elaborate designs.
"Come along Octavia," a voice said echoing throughout the land.
Startled I sped up my speed entering the castle. I kept my gaze straight ahead of me until I arrived at a dead end. Clouds whirled around seeming to create a cloud man.
"Hello Miss Octavia, I am glad you made it here with no trouble."
"Uh, thank you sir. I suppose that you-"
"I'm god? Yes, I am. Although you won't ever see me other than as a cloud man. You're wondering about that right?"
"Yessir."
"I'm not a solid object. I can travel through the vacuum of space and enter your mind with ease. I'm like a harmless thought just floating around. Would you like to know more about the contract?"
I responded with a nod never lifting my gaze off of the walking cloud man. "Please sir...continue."
"In exchange for a nice wealthy life up here you will serve as a guardian angel. You will know most moves beforehand and you are not to let them die before it is their ti-"
"Excuse me sir," I interrupted pausing until I was given approval to continue. "I'll know all the moves beforehand? Like this is a giant game which I know the outcome of?" Something about those words appealed to me. It was like I was playing god even though I worked for, well god.
"Yes."
"I'll do it."
"You haven't even listened to the rest of the sentence." He raised a cloud eyebrow at me.
"I am aware but I will take the job."
"Very well. Here's your uniform. You're to wear it at all times and at night you may return here unless given reason otherwise."
A pair of white feathery wings with a gold accent appeared before me followed by white shoes that reminded me of ballet shoes. I reached out for the shoes slipping them on with ease and made sure to wrap the ribbon up to my knee. The wings on the other hand attached themselves to in between my shoulder blades. The cloud man began to dissipate until I was the only one standing inside the castle.
"One last thing Octavia, always wear the necklace." A beautiful sapphire necklace floated around in front of me waiting for me to grab it. I touched it clipping it behind my neck. It started to glow removing everything that was in my peripheral to what was happening on earth. Before me was a screen that read:

Adeline Grace Foster.
Age: 19 years
Cause of death: old age
Moves: 15265820837

The weird numbers seemed to make complete sense. It was a list of everything that would happen. I was assigned to watch over my murderer. Great, just great. The screen before me disappeared and once again I was back at the place I hated.
"Miss Adeline Grace, I'm so sorry for your loss but your husband has been avenged." The man that spoke to her was my father. He flashed a slight smile and she returned it.
"Thank you sir. I could really use some help..cheering myself up." Her finger trailed along his chest in a seductive manner. My father didn't seem to regret staring at her large breasts or have any difficulty cheating on my mother. Don't get me wrong. Witnessing sex between my father and Adeline was the last thing I wanted to do yet I could figure out how to work the wings. Luckily I will spare those details. All that can be said is they will later regret their decisions.

Nine months passed since I was ordered to watch over Adeline. It's been miserable in all honesty. I was mostly ashamed of not letting the chandelier fall on her. I was doing my job and that was all I could say. It took me three months to figure out how to control my wings allowing me to fly home when I found it not necessary to watch her. Of course that cost me my life up above. Recall the events of my father and Adeline, well she lived up to regret that. She paid with a small child forming within her once slim stomach. Of course I assumed she'd be fine, I never saw her killing herself. I wouldn't have stopped it anyway. Let the words, Adeline Grace Foster is dead, ring throughout the land.

I guess you could say this was a filler chapter and well the next one might be some what the same until everything needed to know about the character is presented in a necessary manner.
