Lucians POV
Blood was pouring everywhere. I heard screaming from behind the locked door as I tried to find a way inside. My heart rate sped up when I heard a voice beg and plead. The sound of a whip connecting with bare skin rang through my ears and I flinched.
I kicked the door as hard as I could and it smashed of its hinges and opened. As I came into view of the scene behind the door, everything went black.....
...
I woke up drenched in sweat, tears streaming down my face as I curled up in a ball on my bed. I sobbed uncontrollably into my pillow trying to make as little noise as I could.
Suddenly my little brother entered the room with a worried look in his eyes. He sat next to me on the bed and I put my head in his lap. He began to play with my hair softly as I continued to sob. I could feel how tense he was but he sat there patiently waiting for me to get a grip on my emotional state.
Once I had calmed down, I sat up and hugged him. Marnel had always been there for me, and I had always been there for him. And even though he was younger then me, he seemed to instantly grow up when he knew I needed him.
It might seem weird that my brother who is only 12 years old has to comfort me, being 17 years old, well 16 going on 17, where it should be the other way around.
But we had to be strong for each other. Without Marnel, I don't know where I would be today.
"Are you okay Lucy?" he asked me. His dark blue eyes looking right into my pale ones. I always hated my eyes, they were such a light blue that they almost looked grey. How dull! Couldn't I have just had rainbow eyes! I mean how cool would that be??
I smiled softly at Marnel. "Just another bad dream. Stay by my side?" I asked him and he smiled brightly at me, his golden hair shining in the moonlight.
"I would love to Lucy!" he said, climbing in next to me. I held him tightly while his head rested on my chest. Sleep eventually over took me and we fell into a peaceful slumber.

I began waking up as the sun peeked through the curtains. When I opened my eyes, my brother glanced towards me with a radiant smile on his face. He had clearly been awake but wanted to keep his promise and stay by my side until we were both ready to leave.
I smiled back at him and kissed his head as I got up. We took turns showering and got dressed for school then looked around to make something to eat but only found some molded bread, so we opted to each have a breakfast bar we kept hidden in my room.
Hopping onto the bus, we took a seat in the back alongside one another. Marnel was part of the middle school right next to my high school so we always rode together. It was a really nice way to start off every day. As the bus came to a halt, we hugged and parted ways.
Walking into school I was tackled by Carrie, my best friend, and with a loud thump, we landed on the grass, thankfully just missing the concrete pathway.
"Luuucyyyyy I missed youuuu!" she said in a sing song voice smiling down at me.
"Well did you really have to try break my ribs??" I asked getting up with a grunt. She really should have joined the football team with that strength. Carrie was pretty manly for a girl, her blonde hair shorter then Marnels with a fashion sense for shorts and over sized tees. Her green eyes shone brightly at me as she helped me off the ground.Walking into school hand in hand, well her walking while I skipped trying to lighten my mood for the day of school, we chatted for a little while as we did. We had always been close and had been friends since diaper days. She was more a sister to me then just another friend. The only good thing to come from having parents like mine. Her parents loved me dearly and use to take care of me as we grew up.
After stopping by our lockers we went to class. English, Math and Biology were all insignificantly boring because we just did a lot of revision of work we had already covered. The teachers always smiled towards me when I entered their class. I was the poster boy of best student. They always seemed to regard me in a way that made them see me as put together, and never really treated me as a highschool kid. I enjoyed the respect, but I never saw what they saw. I was a broken mess hiding behind a brilliant smile. The only ones who saw the real me was my best friends and my brother.
Soon the bell rang for lunch and we headed to the cafeteria and sat down at our usual table. Julian, the schools hot shot, or better known as my own personal bully, approached our table.
My heart began beating rapidly as I felt the dread build up in my stomach. Not today. I really couldn't deal with whatever it is he wants to do. after the horrible dream and the fact I was starving, I had 0 time for this.
Julian slid in next to me, and his friend, Ace, slid in next to Carrie. I tried keeping a calm and collected face but Carrie didn't try at all. She visibly showed her displeasure to the two.
"Hey pretty lady! Why don't you come sit with a real man instead of some faggot worth nothing at all?" Julian said, glaring at me as the word 'faggot' left his lips and destroyed my self-esteem, not that I had any left for him to destroy. Ace chuckled and scooted closer against Carrie.
Out of all the things he can say to me, the simple word 'faggot' was one of the worst . I glared into Julian's golden brown eyes, not shaking and showing any hint that his words bothered me at all and he faltered.
His gaze left mine but it was still filled with anger and frustration.
"How about you come here and suck my dick you little good for nothing spoilt piece of shit? Put that pretty mouth to good use instead of spouting the nonsense you usually do." I said in my sweetest voice, smiling at him as I clenched my fist under the table. I gave away none of my anger visibly.
He looked up at me and met my gaze. I never in a million years would have seen what was coming next....
