A beautiful morning that you can admire through the window, the sun shines gently by cotton clouds and the air, that still has a wintry touch and goes through the house's little spaces.
The family gets ready for breakfast. Dad; a big and brawny man with plentiful beard, eats fresh eggs that Mom made with all her love. Mom, a sweet and skinny lady who always has a smile in her face. The little boy that was still sleeping, without worries, enjoying every single second of his calm dream. Definitely it was a perfect day.
When the little boy woke up, Dad had gone, leaving Mom as the boss of the house, but something wasn't working correctly. Mom started to breathe superficially, her face started to turn red and the breakfast dish fell of her weak hands.
Immediately, the boy in his pyjamas ran away from the small house and called desperately, he shouted and ran until he started gasping to breathe, Dad wasn't so far so he could hear him; he walked quickly to his baby who told him what was happening inside the house, with a desperately tone of voice, Dad ordered him to change his clothes and take Mom's blankets. They would go to the city's hospital that was 70 km from house after the forest. The boy obeyed while Dad was getting Mom onto the wagon.
They started driving on the dangerous and stony road where every step inside could mean tragedy or death, the guy was taking Mom's hands while she was passing out minute by minute. Some hours later, tiredness and stress dominated the car. It started to get dark and Mom told Dad to stop, Dad took Mom down to the trees that looked like inhumane shadows as monsters in stories that his mom used to tell to her son.
Scary, the boy took the gun that his dad always keep in a wood box with baroque paints. He held it, felt its weight and prepared it in case to need it. He heard the sound of branches broking down, and little steps from squirrels that were running side to side and a terrible scream. A destroying cold attacked his backbone but instead of hiding, he started to investigate and decided if he would take action or not.
Step by step, he penetrated into darkness and could differentiate a pair of shadows. First, he thought it was an animal eating its victim, then, he thought it was a hunter flaying a deer and finally he saw the terrible reality: Dad was on Mom, but he wasn't kissing or caressing her. Those strong hands from the man were pressing brusquely the neck of the poor lady while he was looking at his victim's eyes. She tried to touch him but her strength wasn't enough. The veins were becoming more and more visibles on the pale head and the eyes seemed to want to get out of their orbits. Some tears left them.
Just a few seconds were enough to become her, a body without life. His hands were shaking and they have formed marks on the neck. Dad wiped his forehead full of sweat while he was standing up slowly, staring at his wife's body like if she were an artwork and he was breathing heavily.
Dad turned his face and saw the child who was terrified with his eyes and mouth open, and holding the weapon that looked enormous for his immature hands.
Dad started to talk him gently, getting closer and kneeling down slowly, trying to explain that it was mom who requested it, that it was her decision but every word was in vain.
The infant couldn't see anything clear, and his heart was beating really fast that he was afraid of. He looked his dad's eyes and felt repugnance and disgust. The cold blood ran through the veins and his eyes got darker, like if he were older now. The silence that ruled inside his mind was interrupted by a loud noise. And to the child's feet, his dad was, full of blood with bullet drove into the chest, he looked alive and the boy couldn't bear it. Two, three, four, five and finally six. Six bullets were in all his body. The child just looked the landscape; without crying, smiling, without words. He dropped the gun and took a minute to see them one more time; they were lying abreast looking like an adorable scene: his loving mother and his dearest dad together until death, like they had promised one year before he was born. Nobody saw the little guy again; some people say that wolves ate him, others say that he scape from the city and died because of hunger. Other group of people rumor worse things. To tell you the truth, nobody takes care of their backs when they talk about him. They think that it's just a story, they think that he won't come back. But, who can make sure of this?
If this guy were gone forever, he wouldn't be here, crying next to me and regretting his sins while the top of his cold and old gun is pointing to my cranium, wishing not to see me alive after this confession.
