The War is Finally Over.

"John! Come on! We have to leave before we get blown up with this base!" I yelled at my brother

"Nyx, go get out of here!"he yelled

"No! I wont leave you!" I yelled and shot the collectors coming after us

"Dammit, Nyx! Leave! I'm not about to let you die. I promosed mom and dad! I living out that promise!" He yelled

Its been forever scince he brought up our parents. He was serious. I didnt leave. I wanted to help him and leave with him. If we didnt leave then I would die with my brother. He saw  I wasnt leaving so he grabbed my arm and ran off to our waiting shuttle.

"John?! What the hell?!" i yelled

"I'm sorry! I'm so so sorry!" he yelled

"What?!" he threw me on the shuttle "NO!!"

The door closed just before i was able to realize what had just happened and jump out or pull him on. I wanted to cry. My brother. Dead.

The word just echoed. Just like when i was younger and found out my parents died. How would I live without him? The same way i did without my parents. Grieving. Why? Why did he save me and not himself? It was about 20 minutes or so and I was back on my ship. I went directly to my cabin. I didnt want to see anyone.

"Commander? I know this is a bad time, but hackett needs to talk to you." Joker said over the intercom.

"Okay." i said i got up.

i brushed my hair and pulled on some decent clothes. I made my way to the comm room and set it up. within seconds his hologram showed up.

"Commander." he said and saluted me.

"Admiral Hackett." i saluted back.

"Commander I realize you just got back from Mindoir and your brother stayed but we need to talk about stopping these reapers." he said 

"I understand sir. Don't worry.  His death won't cloud my mind." i promised

"Very well. I'm sending you to the Mars archives. There is a plan for a prothean device to kill the reapers." he explained

"WIll do, sir." i said

He ended the comm and I gathered James and Kaiden. We pulled on our armor and jumped into our waiting shuttle.

"Cortez! We need to get to Mars." I said.

"Aye aye, ma'am" he said

We were there within  a few minutes and we ran into a whole slew of cerberus troopers. As we made our way to a large opening we heard a loud BANG!  from the ventalation system and gun shots following. James Kaiden and I were hiding behind a cerberus vehicle. The vents screen flew off its hinges and onto the ground.

"Who the hell could it be?" Kaiden asked

"I dont know." i said and tried to peek my head out without being caught.

The gunfire ceased and we stood up. Face to face with someone we hadnt seen in a couple of years.

"Liara." i said

"Shepard!" she said and ran towards me

"Back up!" James said.

"Easy LT. She's with us." i said

We walked and I told James to get back to the shuttle the cover us and stop cerberus from leaving if they try. He was reluctant to leave be he finally took orders and ran off. We came to a room with security footage of why this place was invaded with cerberus and why they were here.

"Do you know why their here, Liara?" i asked doing what i could with the footage.

"I'm not certain, but i know it has to do with a prothean device to rid the universe of the reapers." she explained

I nodded my head. I saw a woman on one of the videos and brought it to Liaras attention.

"Who's she?" I asked

"Doctor Eva Core. She was the top scientist here." she said

We finally made our way to the prothean device and found that most of the data was being uploaded to a nearby device. We heard kaiden say something and a woman running off. That didnt sit right with me. We ran behind her trying to catch her. we were close but not close enough.

"James! Normandy! Dammit! ANYBODY!" i yelled into the comm

James flew our shuttle into the cerberus shuttle and created a huge mess. Liara was bruised up and i only hit my head. I helped Liara up and kaiden helped her to get behind something so she wouldnt get hurt further. We heard a pounding from the cerberus shuttle and out came doctor Core.

"SHES A DAMNED ROBOT!?" i yelled

She was closest to Kaiden and he was doing what he could to shoot her doown. Apparemtly it didnt work  and she grabbed him by the head and slammed him.

Once 

Twice

Three times against the shuttle.

"NO!" I yelled.

I shot as many times as my gun would allow me. She finally fell. I ran up to Kaiden.

"Kaiden. Wake up. You're going to be okay." i picked him up and slung him over my shoulders.

We saw a large reaper emerge from the clouds and touch down on the base. I placed Kaiden down on one of the tables in the Med Bay and I took off his helmet.

"Commander. Admiral is waiting for our update on the mission." joker said 

"Okay. get him on the comm." i said and took off my armor and ran to the comm room.

"Commander." the connection was patchy

"EDI can you clean this up?" i asked

"I will do my best." she said.

That was the only robot voice i liked to hear.

"How did it go at the archives commander?" he asked

"We only got some of the information. We are only missing one piece. The catalyst." i admitted

"Cerberus has to have it! We need that information!" he said

"I understand sir. We will get it. We just need to get them by surprise." i said.

"Very well commmander. Hackett out." he said and ended the comm.
