"(Y/N)! Wake up!" You hear Sherlock say as he shakes your shoulder. "Sherlock? What's wrong?" You asked, groggily, as you rub your eyes. "Our kidnapper has been in touch." Sherlock said and you sat up very quickly.
"What? When?" You asked. "Just a few minutes ago, with this." He replied as he holds up a small clear container with a memory card inside.
"Is it a message to tell us where Aunt Martha is?" You asked as you get out of the bed and put clothes on. "I don't know because it's encrypted, rather professionally I might add." Sherlock replied.
"So what do we do?" You asked him. "I hate to say this but we need to contact Mycroft." He said. "Are you sure?" You asked. Sherlock nods and pulls out his phone.
"What you're asking for is very sensitive technology." Mycroft replied after Sherlock explains the memory card. He also had his phone on speaker so that you could hear him. "This is important, Mycroft!" Sherlock shouted. "Very well then. There is a software package waiting for you at Vauxhall Bridge. Go there and it will find you." Mycroft said after a few moments of silence. "Thank you, Mycroft." You said.
"You two owe me a favor." He said before he hangs up. You roll your eyes as Sherlock let's out a sigh. "Well off to Vauxhall Bridge. Should we call Molly and ask if she can watch Victor?" You asked him. Sherlock nods and you pick up your phone and call Molly. She said she was fine with that and the both of you head to her place and dropped Victor off.
You and Sherlock walk along Vauxhall Bridge when suddenly your phone beeped. "What the hell?" You said as you pull your phone out and see a message displayed saying. Software upgrade installed.
You look up at Sherlock and he nods as you put the memory card in your phone. You noticed there was a recording in the card and you start decrypting it. After finally decrypting it this is what you hear:
"By the time you hear this, time will be running short. I've placed a number of glass bottles in dustbin and skips around the City of London. Most of the bottles contain water but one contains a nerve agent that will be released when the rubbish is collected and compacted.
Innocent people will die and their blood will be on your hands. But it wouldn't be the first time, wouldn't it? And if you fail to stop this clamity, your Mrs Hudson will also die. If I see any police officers, she will die. If there are any sudden evacuations, she will die.
The location of the first bottle is explained in the attached image file. I suggest you get a move on. Chop, chop!"
You let out a shaky breath and feel tears forming in your eyes as you hear this man speak. Sherlock pulls you to his side and kissed your temple. "Don't worry, love. We will get her back." He whispered.
You look up at him and nod and Sherlock goes on the phone and pulls up the attached image. "We know what he wants now. We just have to follow what the image says." He mutters. On the image it showed a piece of paper with a corner map of London and theses words typed over it:
Send a doctor to
this corner of London.
Time is short.
I will be watching.
"We need to call John." You said and you pull out your phone and call him. "Hello?" He answered. "John. We need your help! The kidnapper has been in touch and he has placed five bottles around London and one of them contains a nerve agent. And the kidnapper wants us to send you to get them." You said.
"Shit." John said.
"Do we know where they are?" He asked. "We have a clue for where the first one is....it says Near the Tower, this lane sounds furious." You said. "Hmmm. That sounds like Seething Lane." John said. "I'll go and find someone to watch Rosie and I'll head over there."
"Thanks, John." You said and you hang up. "So what do we do?" You asked your husband. "Let's go get Victor and head back to Baker Street. While John is out getting the bottles we can look through the maps and point out to him where to go." Sherlock said.
After you return to Baker Street, your phone goes off. "John." You answered as you put your phone on speaker. "Found it, in a skip by a building site. There's a message on the label of the bottle. It just says 'A fine junctions to cut your cloth.' Any ideas?" He asked as Sherlock pulls down the map of London and looks through it.
"Clothier Street. Head over there." Sherlock said. "On my way." John said and he hangs up. You pace around for awhile then Sherlock's phone goes off. "Right: the label on this bottle says 'A different kind of junction--or a hat.'" He said.
You and Sherlock look through the map again and you point out Mitre Street. "Mitre Street, that has to be it." You said. Minutes later, John calls again and said. "Found it. The next one says 'This road doesn't sound like much, unless you're chicken?' He's getting cocky." You snorted a laugh as John asked. "Where should I go?"
"Well, obviously Poultry Lane, John." Sherlock replied. "Right." John said and he hangs up. "Looks like there's just one more. 'Times running out. Hurry to a most pleasing lane for abecedarians.' I don't even know what that means." John said few minutes later.
"Okay, okay." You muttered as you and Sherlock look through the map until you saw something catch your eye.
"This one Abchurchill Lane! That's got to be it!" You exclaimed. "Found it! That's the last of them!" John said later on. You and Sherlock let out a sigh of relief. "I'll head over to your direction, John. I'll help you dispose of them safely." You said.
"Thanks." John said then he hangs up. "Be careful." Sherlock whispered to you. "You know I will." You said and you kiss his cheek and head out to the doors.
"Oh good you made it! That was a close one!" John exclaimed as you approach him. "Hopefully that should keep Aunt Martha alive for a little bit longer." You said. "You sure we can trust this man? We don't even know if he is lying or not." John said.
"What else can we do, John?" You asked. John looks at you for a moment before bitting his lips. "Let's not worry about that right now, let's just enjoy the moment while we can. We just saved, not only Aunt Martha, but hundreds of people." You said as John nods.
You phone goes off and you see it is Mycroft. "Stay precisely where you are and I'll have that bottle taken care of. We can't have this falling into the wrong hands." He said and a moment later one of his people show up and take the bottles away from you and John.
"That was all a little too simple. It's as though he expected us to succeed. There are a few unsettling things about our new adversary." Sherlock said as he paces back and forth across the living room of Baker Street.
John, who has a hold of Rosie, was sitting in his old chair while you, feeding Victor, sit on the couch. "Like what?" John asked. "Well for starters the files were professionally encrypted." You said. "And he had access to nerve agents which suggests he might have military or intelligence background." Sherlock said.
"And when he said we had blood our hands it sounded rather personal." You said. "But if anyone were to kidnap Mrs Hudson, it would have to be personal. You think we might be dealing with a proficient killer or something?" John asked. "It's possible. There's a great deal of room for speculation." Sherlock replied.
"You don't think it has something to do with the Baskerville case few years back, do you?" You asked. "Unclear. But things are starting to come in to focus." He said as he places his hands in the prayer position and smiles.
