"You shouldn't be alive." Dr. Killian Francis lowered her file and looked at her through his practical but stylish spectacles.
Hadeya liked her doctor. He was honest and straight to the point that it almost felt numbing. However, after 2 months in the hospital she was ready to go home.
Her scars would heal nicely. Except for, maybe the huge scar that trailed down from in between her breasts all the way above her belly button like a lazy snake. She would have that one forever. She'd have to remember that fateful day for the rest of her life every time she looked into the mirror.
"Thanks for the honesty Doc. Am I free to go?" She had become impatient with this place.
"Not just yet. You need one more psych-evaluation before you go. What you went through, the accident was a very traumatic experience for you Ms. Akia..."
"Hadeya. You can call me Hadeya, Doctor. With all we've been through it's safe to say we are more than acquaintances."
"Then you can call me Killian. I have become a bit tired of you calling me 'doctor' all the time. I save that title for people I don't like." He chuckled showing a set of perfect, white teeth.
Hadeya smiled, joining him in laughter. Killian had been a good friend to her the past two months, not only her doctor. She hated hospitals. The smell of disinfectant. The smell of death. Though she'd never seen a dead body since she'd been admitted here, she knew people died inside these walls everyday. If it wasn't for Killian, she might have been one of them.
"Though this is a question your psychiatrist is sure to ask you...I'm wondering if you remember about the night of your accident? What happened?" Killian's jade green eyes looked genuinely concerned for her.
Hadeya tensed. More often than not she did get flashbacks about that night but they were never pretty.
Whatever happened that night always left her feeling cold and struggling to breathe every time she tried to remember. She didn't want to remember. Not now, not ever. But one memory bothered her...from the corner of her eye right before she had blanked out, she had noticed a figure: a woman near her with white hair but it was only for a split second before found herself slowly slipping out of consciousness...
"I can't remember anything Doc...Killian. It's all just a blank and honestly I'd rather forget."
Killian sighed. He placed a warm, soft hand over Hadeya's. Hadeya felt something inside her stir. It had been a long time since she'd been with anyone and Killian was constant reminder of how she didn't have anyone care for her in a long time.
"I'm sure you're ready to get home."
"I am."

Home. It looked different from the last time she was here. Everything looked...dull. And ugly. She had an uncontrollable urge to throw everything she had in her house and buy new furniture, new pictures, new everything.
Her phone started to ring. Hadden. Her twin brother and closet friend, Hadden was her rock. He was probably checking on her to see if she'd gotten home safely.
"Hadden..."
"Are you home yet? Anything you need me to get you? I'm already on my way with groceries to fill your fridge."
Coincidently she had just opened the fridge door to see a very, very empty fridge.
"Thanks, that would be a great help." She let out a laugh. With all my excitement to get home she'd forgotten to get anything to eat. Good on her brother to remember how much of a scatter brain his sister could get when she got excited. She thought.
"Anytime. It was about time you got out of that hospital. I hate the atmosphere in those places."
"You and I both." She sighed as she took a look around the house. As much as she was excited to leave the hospital, that only meant she'd only be reminded how lonely she was. And there was no way she'd ask her brother to stay with her. Despite the fact her brother lived with his girlfriend, Hadden was annoying to be with for a long period of time.
"I'll be there in the about thirty minutes. See you then sis."
"See you." The line went dead. Maybe she'd take a shower before he arrived. She could still smell the scent of the hospital clinging to her clothes.
She stood in front of her full length mirror and took a good look at herself. The first thing you'd notice of course was the long scar which went down her torso. Luckily it was looking better, and with a little surgery would hardly be noticeable.
She wore her black hair down in long twists that reached way below her waist. Her body was soft with smooth curves. Her thighs were a little on the thick side but not too much. She didn't work out as often as she should and she knew the little extra she carried was because of her love for food. And staying in the hospital for such a long period of time didn't help either. But she liked her body. Her bum was ample and as soft as the rest of her body. It was perky, and even though it was quite big it didn't sag. Her breasts were at best normal. Not too big, not too small. The right size for her figure.
When was the last time anyone ever saw her naked? It seemed so long now. She took her shower as quickly as she could and dressed in a Thrasher t-shirt and frayed jean shorts. Right on cue the doorbell rang. She opened the door to her brother.
"Guess who bought pizza!" Hadden shouted as walked in. Somehow he found a way to balance the groceries he'd bought and the large pizza all in one trip.
Hadden and Hadeya both shared the same cocoa brown eyes and toasted caramel complexion. They were a beautiful pair of twins right from birth. Their parents and everyone who knew them fawned over them and still did. Whilst Hadeya shied away from the attention their beauty brought them, her brother used it to his advantage and had even become a world-renowned model.
"Thank you for the groceries. You're a real life saver." She began to organise everything.
"No problem. Noni says hi. And she's looking forward to seeing you again." Noni was Hadden's girlfriend of 4 years. Even though Hadeya and her weren't close she felt happy to hear from her.
"Tell her I said hi too."
"I know I've said this a lot but I'm so happy you're alive."
The past two months came back hard. The pain. The nightmares. The realisation she would never be the same ever again. She had almost lost her will to live. Being so close to death changed everything.
"It was so hard." That's when she broke down and cried and felt her brother hug her.
"Shhh. It's okay big sis."
Hadeya laughed.
"I'm only older than you by 3 minutes."
"Yeah, well that didn't stop you from bossing me around all through our childhood." Hadden had a way of making her laugh at the lowest of times. She was grateful for that. She didn't like breaking down.
"You're going to work tomorrow, right?" Hadden asked in between a bite.
"Yeah. It's about time I jumped back into the groove of things. I'm tired and bored of doing nothing. And I need to start writing again. It will help me get my mind of things."
Hadeya was a rising writer. Her first book had gotten her a lucrative deal with the biggest publishing house in the country, Penner Publishing House. She loved her job. And she just hoped when she got back they'd still love her too.
They continued to eat their pizza in silence for a few, long minutes.
"Good on you Hadeya. It's good to keep busy." Hadden said. Hadeya only nodded.
"Well I best be on my way. I'll visit again soon." He gave his sister a kiss on the cheek and waved goodbye as he walked through the door.
Alone again.
Ten minutes after he'd left, Hadeya set about switching off the lights in her house.
Going up the stairs she could have sworn she saw a white-haired figure.
